It blows my mind how many vises you guys can find on CL! I search multiple times a day (work on a computer all day) and never find these old USA vises. If they pop up, people are asking CRAZY prices.
Toolman: sorry to say, but it might be cheaper to buy an old vise off Craigslist or Ebay than to buy a new dynamic jaw. Columbian is still making new vises so a quick googling might get you to a new part. if you were closer i'd probably have an old gem to sell you, but unless you are buying one of my bigger ones the shipping costs might kill a good deal.
good luck and curious if you were using it as a press or hitting it with a BFH or did it just break?
I'm careful to stay out of Joe's and Bagged's territory to the east of me......I don't want to get a turf war started like the gang bangers do with their drug businesses.....

Ummm...no. I have accounts in Bethlehem, Harrisburg, State College and Pittsburgh. You can have Sayre and be happy about it.I'm setting claim to the south east Pennsylvania territory, from the Susquehanna river to Penns walking purchase territory. Temporary time share territory to the shores of New Jersey in summer months! Territory map thread? Haha
Tool man- good on you for quiting that vice. I'm smoke free 3years, still chewing nicorette and I have a new vise!seriously, good work man!
Oak-can I see your leather vise jaws? I'm in the process of wet molding jaws right now! I just need to go buy some copper rivets for them.

Picked up a 4" Wilton Bullet swivel base in very good original condition today. Paid up for it though, $200.
Off topic picked up a very nice 90k btu knipco salamander today for $100. Finally heat in my shop.
Joe I mailed you a birthday present today for your new machine. My CNC is back up and running YEA.
Happy Birthday to Joe...
When are you going to catch up with me...
I just moved into my eighth decade last June...
Hurry up, and you can be an old fart like Outlaw and me...![]()

What is a good vintage vise to go after for a restoration? I don't want to spend much... So the big names are out of the question as they seem to fetch a lot even all rusted up. I want a swivel base and around 4.5-5" jaw.
Another Loch Erie Monster? Another Unicorn?

Anyone know if this looks like the original handle on this Wilton woodworkers vise? I just sold it and need to finish it. Of course now I have 2 vises to finish and not much time.
Sorry for the crappy picture I took.

Hey guys, I wouldn't mind spending around 1-150 for one. I will update my location.
Thanks
