thought about it, but needing a decent current 12 volt power source can be expensive and voltage drop on 12 volts really needs large wire for the long runs you could need.

I do have similar lights waiting to go on my hummer and an APS55 55 amp 13.4 volt power supply that could easily run it, but it is just too "non conventional" that I would rather put in stuff that would pass inspection vs something along these lines that you would have to remove when you sell the house.

For power supplies my thought was run 110v line all the way around the house so I can turn lights on from one of 4 switches. Then place outlets along the 110 line and since I probably have 15 ATX computer power supplies laying around. I would plug those into the outlets and run the light that way.

I live in the middle of the woods surrounded by 300 acres of forever wild. It gets real dark at my house. I like to be able to see the critters (bobcats, bears, etc...) a ways from the house. I also like the idea of being able to see anytime I need to.

I have the 36", 234W version on my tractor... man is that bright. Would love a few of those in the soffits to light up the world.

I have a 2000W 240V flood light off a fire truck I've been meaning to mount on the back of the barn...

That light would be killer :)

I just looked up prices of cheap exterior flood light fixtures and found I can get one for $10. But then after buying bulbs for it I am already up to about $35 anyhow. May as well try the LED bars.

I would try it except the bars seem to be mostly spots or spot/flood combos. Floods alone would be great for outside.

Since I have so much distance around the house and it is so dark I think the spot flood will be perfect. and it is hard to complain at 37$

I've been working on this idea for the past 2 weeks. We just bought a house on 15 acres and it is real dark. I'm not home every night so the Mrs would feel better with some really bright lights. We have flood lights on the corner of the house but they are too far apart and lacking. I looked into the bright led lights, they are expensive and still have the problem of the lights being on the corner of the house. I think I'm going to use these

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D...fog+lights&dpPl=1&dpID=510vYFJKSLL&ref=plSrch

I'll tap into the 120 at the existing flood lights, get a power supply from superbrightled.com, and put 4 or 5 on each side of the house under the soffits depending on the spread of the light. I'll incase the power supply similar to that of the landscape lighting power supplies mounted to the house. This will be our everyday lights.

I have noticed signs of people coming on the property to fish our pond, dumping trash on the back dirt road, and things moved or taken that was left behind by the previous owner. So for security lights I want to add 2 of the inexpensive spot/fog light bars on each side of the house. If she hears something or sees it on the cctv she can flip on the lights and hopefully scare the **** out of them with a wall of blinding light. It would blind them from seeing the house/doors in the event one of us has to come out to release the dog or shotgun.

The plan is to have the lights on a remote so she can keep it with her and not have to run through the house to the light switch.

I've got some other plans, but they're top secret lol.

That is a really nice looking light. The price tag kinda scares me away. I believe in massive amounts of overkill when it comes to lighting. Nothing sux more than not being able to see.

I've spent a lot of time looking into those lights and many others from the box stores. Not impressed. These so far are the best ones I could find under $100 ea.

We use this same lights I linked at work in the supply yard, which is about the same size as my front yard. There are 6 of them mounted and the are fairly bright. But they only cover about a 30' diameter and the back half of the supply yard is still dark. I would need at least 4 on each side plus one on each end, and rewire for the additional lights. My front yard is about the size of a football field

I installed a few of these and their related motion sensor lights on this past Sunday. Home depot. $79-99 depending on style.
They swivel so the light goes out in to the woods or on the porch with an easy hand twist.
I could see the mule deer coming in at about 40 yards.

I was working on the same plan as you and decided to not fight the engineering someone else had done.
Easiest install ever, 180 light spread.

I also, since finding these, decided against lining the soffits with sams club led tube lights. I have already bought them but will put them somewhere else.

I've been eyeing this same fixture. The only thing holding me back is that my main deck area (where the grill is) is off the corner of the house. Seems like I may need to put one of these along the middle and add a spot light for the deck or I'll have lots of light washing into the neighbors yard.

Hi - I'm trying to use this light, a light bar meant for a jeep indoors for helping with video production.

I'm too new to post a link but it's Kaper II L16-0075GR Green LED Hunting Light and available at Amazon.

I thought I could use an AC to DC power supply, but that didn't work. Can anyone direct me to what I need and where I can get a power supply that will make this work? Thanks in advance!

I’m sure that unit will run using a regular 12 volt battery charger. Any auto parts store or even Home Depot will have them. Not a battery maintainer but a true charger like in the range of 6-10 amps.

What did you try that didn’t work?

I can see 'some' advantage to using a 12 or 24vdc LED light....but then you have the issue of maintaining the battery supply.

I have an LED motion light....love the *****....it goes off any time someone walks past my house.

I asked my neighbors if it bothered them...."Nope" they said....they liked the fact it told them someone was in front of the house.

My wife loves it because she has good lighting when she gets home

I didn't look up the light that Jackvane referenced but he's going to need more than 6-10 amps for a proper light bar. 300w at 12v is 25 amps.

That particular light bar posted my jack and only has 6 diodes so I doubt it will draw more than one amp. The color of the light is green. The OP is looking at a much brighter light bar for photography work. That monster would need a serious power supply capable of a continuous 10 plus amps. And that was the smallest model on the page!
