Score blue! After some guidance, I wound up just tightening the bolt down and it jacked the pin out. My fight is in the vise repair thread somewhere

Edit-your pin looks different though.NEVERMIND, maybe threaded like the experts say! I'd like to see how you wind up getting yours out, and what the pin looks like. Wonder if it's accessible from inside?

This is what followed me home from an "antique" store today. Hollands 23. Really impressed with the base of this vise. Super stout for a 3"er

I sold my Hollands 24 last year, really liked that vise. The swivel base is one of the best designs I have seen.

Anyone know if this looks like the original handle on this Wilton woodworkers vise? I just sold it and need to finish it. Of course now I have 2 vises to finish and not much time.
Sorry for the crappy picture I took.

Bagged That is original. They made two styles. Caps, and rings. Caps have hollow aluminum handles. Rings have solid aluminum . Yours looks like it has rings with solid.

Thought I'd show this lil guy off before it's boxed up. This one the customer browsed some of my pic's and picked out this color scheme from some others I have done. It turns out he was a big vintage Craftsman nut so I turned him on to some choice inventory as well. I'm really having a lot of fun this year.
The wrench rack is 1950's and I wish they would make stuff like this again. The plastic **** just has no appeal. The 1/4" drive socket set is 30-40's long "C" and was made by Husky . This set is 100% complete and original , it even has the little T bar for the breaker bar. The painted on logo is in really good condition for it's age.

It's great when you get parts in the mail at no charge.

All for selling parts to a guy and giving advise on how to fix his late father's vise.

He did a good job saving a vise and memory

I've paid $200 many times for a bullet. Depending on its Model, Size and Condition, with your eye Joe, I bet its a real keeper. Show and tell Please!

Here you go. I flipped the jaws to see how they looked. Pretty good. 2/80 slide date. Just to reiterate, pd $200. 4" jaws.

Seller was a ****. I wanted to punch him.

Nice Ad Bagged! I took a pass at getting them vertical and fixing the contrast and brightness a bit, so hopefully that are more readable.

You know, Outlaw...

For an "Old Fart"...

Ya Dun Gud, Bubba!!!

As an owner of a couple of Parker vises, if I had a dollar for every time I had to struggle with a cumbersome binder bolt without using a Hex Wrench, I would have..... a couple of bucks.

Joe, regardless of the seller. That's about as nice as it gets for a unpainted, unfinished 4" Bullet. That one is money in the bank. Nice find Joe, I've paid that and more for equal ones in that nice of condition.

Joe:
Without going into too many of the gory details, what would a vise seller have to do to make a kind and rational gentleman such as yourself want to punch him?

What did he do???
1.) wouldn't call me back, EVER
2.) wouldn't give me a straight answer or would answer a question I hadn't asked
3.) wouldn't even confirm he'd sell it to me until I guaranteed the purchase, even though I hadn't seen the vise in the flesh
4.) wouldn't meet anywhere that wasn't super public, felt like I was doing a drug deal (or what i ASSUME a drug deal would feel like. Not like I have any ACTUAL experience in that realm)
5.) was late to the meeting
6.) wouldn't show me the vise until I showed him the cash.

In general just a ****. Made what should have been a nice transaction an uncomfortable transaction. I worked to buy that one I tell you. After I put the vise in the trunk I fantasized about hitting him in the head as hard as I could! Not a very Christian way to be, not how my mother raised me.

Joe I'm glad I didn't pursue that vise after he emailed me back. I don't have time for that ****.

Thanks Joe
Some people...
But at least after all of that you got a fine looking vise at a very fair price. Just cost you too much in mental anguish.

Reminds me of a recent almost deal when I was down in Los Angeles (west side)
A guy advertised a Craftsman 5197 for $80. Of course I was interested. I told him I would be in Long Beach on a certain Thursday and we could meet to do the deal. He emailed me a few hours later to say sorry but his son had sold the vise without telling him. Then the next day I heard from him that the guy flaked but if I matched his price ($120) I could have it. I said I was not in Long Beach anymore but I was an hour away. I said bring it to me and I'll pay $100. He said it's too far. Drive back to Long Beach and I'll let you have it for $80. I was busy by then and I didn't think too much of his business ethics so I let it slide. Seemed to me that he was running an auction but didn't want to pay eBay fees. C/L frowns on this.

There are few things that are as aggravating as having an inconsiderate cockknob waste your time. I feel for you Joe. That sure does ****.
I have personally made the decision to quit being polite or considerate to people that treat me like that (and, yes, i have chosen to smack someone in the mouth for being an A-hole on at least a couple occasions). I find it to be very liberating. Too many people have forgotten the social contract in modern society. sad, sad, sad...

Yes update your location. I have a few vises I am fixing to sell myself.
Thanks I'm in MD . So I guess you would need to ship.

I'd actually be interested in a resto, so a dirty one is a plus.

But I was also thinking of buying a new one but at that price point I'd get something not great, right.

MR: you just saw what Joe had to pay for an old 4 inch Wilton and you might have noticed he doesn't NEED another vise. i'm sure you can buy a new working vise for under $150, but it won't be as nice looking as one of these old ones. if you might want a few pictures of a few i'm going to sell go ahead and PM me your email address.

or you are in an area that guys are still finding vises, but you'll need to be QUICK to grab one at a great price.

good luck

Bagged: funny picture for sure about a Parker and great information too

Outlaw: thanks for making it so i could read it with my readers and big fonts.

Not sure what you mean Joe, did he want to meet in a public place or not?

I will meet people buying from me in the sheriff's office parking lot 2 blocks from my house if they want to for their peace of mind. On occasion I will meet along the interstate 20 miles from me at a gas station for higher priced items. A lot of people I have found out check Craigslist as they drive through and just want to stop and pick up an item without spending the extra hour driving back and forth to my place.

Think you might need to find one closer to home. The only two close to your requirements I am considering selling are a 4" Yost swivel machinist and a 5" 1950's swivel Wilton Bullet. Shipping would probably kill the deal.

I posted a pic on Jan. 4th soon after I brought it home. Sorry you missed it then. I repost it here. Parker 956 with 6 inch jaws weighing in at 130 lbs. Yes, I know the handle although straight needs some serious help on each of the ends. It would be difficult to bend a handle like this one... 13/16 inch diameter...Paid an even $100.

After you posted yesterday I did go back and look but I didn't go back that far. January 4th - that must have been 50 pages ago. I do remember seeing the Anchor Steam though. Now that I think of it I'm kinda thirsty.
