Stahlwille vs Gedore impact?

Stahlwille impact extensions and u-joint are much more expensive than Gedore (and the sockets themselves are little more expensive). In general, I find Gedore to be the strong brand and Stahlwille to be the finesse brand, but in this instance the dimensions and weights are all pretty identical. Anybody have any experience with how the two compare in impact sockets and extensions?

I think it may simply be that Gedore make big tools well, but not so much the small ones!

I picked up some Gedore 1/4 inch drive stuff a few years back and it was pretty flimsy! Didn't fit together particularly well either, and I've avoided Gedore since. It was always regarded as a bit of a 'budget brand' here in the U.K. anyway!

A colleague has some Gedore Combination Wrenches though (No.7 XL?) and they are pretty good, though I've seen other patterns that are dog rough!

I think that if you like the tool when you actually see it, it'll stand up well enough. Don't be put off if it's cheaper, If you don't like the tool for some reason, get something different!

I'm pretty sure that Gedore make tools they specialise in for other companies, and vice versa. If, as in this case, dimensions are similar, I'd probably go with the cheaper!

No way to see Gedore and Stahlwille in person here in US

I'm surprised you didn't like the Gedore 1/4" stuff, was it maybe from the brief made in India period?

Where do you get yours? Gedore and Stahwille are not brands I have seen offered locally.

I recall mechanics in Spain that were as proud of their Stahwille tools as some Americans are of their Snap-On collections.

Gedore advertised themselves as the worlds largest manufacturer of flat wrenches.

A guy who used to be a member (maybe still is) operates german-hand-tools.com, also kctoolco.com, or Chadstoolbox (but be prepared for what it's like when you order from chads...)

Interesting. I would say I prefer their 1/2" over Stahwille's, thicker, heavier, which is good for that application.
