With the recent talk of SK recently I figured I would give my $0.02 on my collection of SK I use pretty much every day at my day job as a jack of all trades mechanic/maintenance man for the school board. I was cleaning and reorganizing my box on my service van when it occurred to me to do this. So I spit shined everything up as these tools are used and abused.

First off we'll start with my newest acquisition for the truck. SK's new ratchet wrenches. I haven't been able to use them much yet as I just picked them up last week. I loved the packaging they were in. I thought it was cool as snot. These are pics at the shop at work and also at my body shop when I thought to take family pics.

Now for my Superchrome wrenches in standard and metric. Forgive the rust. That is totally my fault. They still function fine. I had a stupid fire extinguisher explode in the van while driving (interesting tale there) and didn't get all that powder off everything in time. It ***** but live and learn.

Then here is sort of family pics with my line wrenches. Worth every freaking penny. I've had these since summer and wish I had got them sooner as I'm alway doing brake work on our rusty Chevys.

Here are my 1/4 and 3/8 socket sets. These have been in daily use for 10 years. I've recently lost my 1/4 5/16 and it *****. Still hoping to find it on an extension. I had a pretty bad job last week and just kinda threw everything back in the van after I was done. The 3/8 ratchet was recently replaced due to my idiot brother getting into my van and using it along with a 3' cheater bar to break loose a lug nut. My cordless impact was right behind my main box. You just can't fix stupid. I didn't bother warranting it because that's abuse. Yes it exploded.

All in all they are the best bang for the buck for me. I use these just about every day, especially the 1/4 set and with only 1 failure due to abuse I don't think that's half bad. I don't inspect my tools with a magnifying glass. I'm sure there are flaws in the chrome here and there, but bolts and nuts don't seem to mind. The wrenches do bother me but like I said that is totally my fault. I've thought about trying electrolysis to remove it and maybe paint them. Or just use them until I retire...... Which will be awhile, I've got 12 years in and can't retire until 27, then I'll still have to wait until I'm 55. I'm 34 now lol.

UPDATE!!! I just found the 5/16 exactly where I thought I would find it! I just went to the van to grab my uniforms opened the door looked down and saw my 1/4 impact with the little booger on there. Yeah yeah I know, I should be using impact sockets on an impact driver........

What a beautiful collection. I recently fell in love with a sk wrench set at work. There was a couple in the shop tool box so I went through each draw and almost made a complete set, I wish I could lock them up in my box before someone decides to use them as a punch or something

Wow, you outta be an S-K spokesperson!;)

Nice tools.

SK was my first professional type of tools. I've always had a soft spot for them even though in my body shop I use Snap On I still have my personal SK sets in my truck for working at friends houses or the break downs I have had to go on. Those sets have served me just as well!!

Do you have an sk truck by you or a local source?

There is a truck dealer but I've never dealt with him, he's a douchebag. I never could really deal with his attitude so I take my money elsewhere. I do have a local mom and pop parts store that I have gotten to order all my stuff for my service van. I pay more than internet prices, like the ratchet wrenches set me back $275ish whereas I've seen them on the net for $215, but I like to try my best to keep my money as local as I can.

I recently got to check out the new X Frames at the Eppy's in Howell NJ, awesome smooth action, definitely on the "must pick up" list. $220 Metric set, $130 SAE.

That's a great price especially if they have them in stock. Their thick beams and low swing arc make them a pleasure to use.

So what do you think of the ratcheting wrenches? The edges on the beam seam pretty sharp, are they comfortable? How much was the set? Thinking about buying the SAE set with my tax check here in a few weeks. The only thing that worries me is the 6 point, but I reckon with that swing arc you'll only have to fit in the tight places once, lol.

I finally saw them at Eppy's yesterday. I was very surprised at how large they actually are. The 3/4" wrench was a lot bigger than I expected. I'll probably pick up the SAE set in the near future.

Today I got to use them in a working type environment changing an alternator (usually I would use sockets but I have a new toy to play with and was wondering about the boxiness myself) I really like them and will retire my Gearwrenches up to 19mm. The 6 pt thing is what really drew me to them, 6 pt I can torque the mortal bejesus out of junk with no worries of slippage!

For some reason I'm focused on the fire extinguisher in the background

Bwahahahaha!! That's one of 6 that is in my body shop. I have 3 on each wall ready to grab at a given moment from the front to the back of the shop. :rocker:

Figured I might revive an old thread since I was just looking through my old posts. The SK ratcheting wrenches are definitely worth the price!! I love the things to say the least. They are the first thing I reach for when I need a ratcheting wrench. As for the rest of my daily tools in my truck, they are doing what they do best....... work! Can't speak highly enough about them. I've been eyeballing the new ratchets that SK has brought out, I might have to give one a whirl soon. I'll try to get a new group picture put together of my work tools soon to show that they have been holding up excellent.

It is nice to find an honest person that does not try to warranty tools broken by abuse. It is a novel concept to some. I have an auto tool store nearby in Howell, NJ, that is a full stocking SK dealer.

I've been eyeing those X-Frame's, but am tempted to get the Proto ASD spline drive ratcheting wrenches. Bigger variety of sizes, and you can use the spline drives on e-torx (my new-to-me BMW X5 has quite a few e-torx) and it is nice to have options.

Maybe I'll just pick up both. :bounce:

I have the black chrome version of the Proto's, and they are my favorite wrenches period. The ASD open end is VERY effective, and it doesn't mark up fasteners. The spline design is faceted rather than rounded, so it bites in and acts like an ASD on the box end, and again; it's pretty impressive.

The X frames seem like an outstanding ratchet design, but I don't much care for flat box ends, I want an offset. Now if they make those in long double box ends with a swivel, I think they will have THE long swivel wrenches to have.

I've actually started switching almost everything over to SK at this point. I think that for the money they really are the best bang for the buck. The only thing I don't like, unfortunately, are most of their ratchets. I pretty much almost exclusively use SK wrenches and sockets and couldn't be happier! Customer service is amazing as well.

I used to work at a mom and pop auto parts store that used to sell KD. Nothing pi$$ed me off more than some dorfus **** would come in with a wrench, socket, ratchet that had a touch of rust or whatever on it and try to warranty it. Most of the time you can't get it warrantied and the store pays. A little rust never bugged me anyway, I use my tools. I don't put them on a pedestal to look at lol.

I have a set of 6pt SK flare wrenches purchased a few years ago, and they kind of ****. i find them to be kind of spongy and don't instill a lot of confidence. i just ordered their replacement from another name brand.

every time id start a job with SK flare, i end up switching to my regular open ended

I think I'm going to start giving yearly updates to this old thread. It's about that time of year for me to pull my **** out of my boxes, give them a once over, and reorganize my truck. My old van died a horrible death and I'm now in a pickup and unfortunately my tools live in a now homemade sealed tool chest. To combat the constant moisture I give everything a generous amount of WD40 or whatever is handy and while it helps I hate having oily tools. But on to the update, after a few more years of constant use and abuse my trusty SKs haven't let me down. No replacements nor issues, the mild rust on my wrenches hasn't grown anymore to warrant extreme measures. Just good quality tools doing their job. When I get my truck in the shop I'll gather everything up and take some family pics and let you guys see how everything has held up, especially since now they basically live outside at the mercy of heat/cold/condensation. I'm hoping soon to put a service body on this stupid pickup so I can have something more workable for me.

But I'm biased. Here's my 1981 3/8" socket set - all the pieces are still there.
