Polyurethane isn't plastic.

I don't think this is true. Polyurethane is generally a thermoset polymer. It is definitely a man-made polymeric material, I'm pretty sure most would consider that a plastic.

Not a dig on the hammers, I understand the difference between a plastic part like molded polypropelene and your cast resin polyurethane hammer bodies, but they are both plastic.

Sorry for if I gave bad information. Perhaps "cheap plastic" is more apropos?

Classification

Plastics are usually classified by their chemical structure of the polymer's backbone and side chains. Some important groups in these classifications are the acrylics, polyesters, silicones, polyurethanes, and halogenated plastics. Plastics can also be classified by the chemical process used in their synthesis, such as condensation, polyaddition, and cross-linking.[19]

Dumb question, but how do I place an order. I dont see any options for blems on the site

See below.

We are now offering blem hammers at 50% off list price. I mentioned this in another thread or two, but here are the particulars.

The quality of the blems is high. Our intent is to offer hammers that have the same function, feel, and durability of our branded hammers but have cosmetic or other minor issues that prevent a sale. I have attached some photos of blems, and the link below shows a couple other examples of blems. Sorry, the Swiss cheese blem doesn’t make the cut.

As for the photos, in some instances, it’s hard to determine the issue. The red-swirl sledge is only a blem because the color ran out.

Ball peens will not be available as blems, and smaller hammers and bossing mallets will be in short supply. Right now, we have zero Model #12 blems.

If you wish to make a purchase, please send a PM to me that includes your “ship to” information and your email.

If you have my email, you can bypass the PM part and send an email directly to me.

Please post any general questions in this thread.

Others might have the same questions. The "Sorceress" and I will be processing orders.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315889&showall=1

I will post an update to this site periodically to let everybody know what we have in stock for blems.

We're currently out of Models S1-S4 and Model #10 sledges. We have zero bossing mallets, too.

Blems in stock are as follows: S0, 1,2,3,4, 7, 12, 14.

As models become available or disappear from stock, I will update the thread.

Victoria, aka "The Sorceress", is processing most of the order requests now. Thanks for making everything easy for her.

Fire away if you have any questions.

Please send a private message with what you're looking to purchase. Blems are not part of our website offerings right now, so we're processing orders in the office. Please include your name, address, and email in the PM. Victoria will prepare a quote for you. The purpose of the quote is to make sure we have all the information correct--something akin to reviewing an Internet order before hitting the order button. If the quote looks good, we will convert it to an order.

I just got my order of hammers today. Great deal guys. A couple of pics below. The one has a couple bubbles in it. Other than that, I can't see anything wrong with the other 3. I have a feeling I'm gonna be ordering quite a few more next week.

Resisted hard for a while but now have 3 hammers on the way. Can't wait to try them out. Placed order over the phone, representative was more than helpful. Will post pictures of the supposed Blems when they arrive.

Here's a shot of our blem bin of Model #3 hammers. There are lots of 'em. Victoria, aka the Sorceress, wants to be Monte Hall and play "Let's Make a Deal" with the Model #3 blems. I'm not going to argue with the Sorceress and her plans: a box of 2 model #3 blem hammers for $30. When somebody threatens to turn you into a chimp if you disagree, you listen, or I at least take the threat seriously. Please send a PM or an email to the Sorceress or me if you're interested in a box of 2 Model #3 blems for $30.

Thanks.

Well there's an offer I can't refuse. Next Monday or Tuesday I'll be sending Victoria an email for a pair of #3's a red and a green one.

For those of you who've been to our website, you've probably seen "spindle liners" as a product category. Our spindle liners are made for CNC lathes, turning centers. The spindle liner basically allows the lathe operator to run different size bar stock in the lathe. It's a reduction tube. A draw tube might have a bar capacity of 80mm, but you want to run 66mm bar stock. This won't work to well: there will be a lot of vibration and machine performance will suffer, as will precision. We make a spindle liner with an ID to run the 66mm bar stock at the highest RPM possible, while maintaining tight tolerances.

I have spindle liner customers ask if they can run 1.75" bar stock in a 2.00" ID spindle liner. The answer is always "yes," but I'm not sure you want to do that. There's too much clearance. I use the analogy of socket set. What would happen if you tried to turn a 1/4 inch bolt with a 3/8 inch socket? The right tool for the job...

I guess that I'm longwinded this afternoon. That's what happens when Victoria is doing all the work.

Trusty Cook makes great spindle liners. The company that I work for uses Trusty Cook exclusively for spindle liners.

So what is available in green then?

We have very few blems in colors other than red. We run different colors, and as we run the different colors, we end up with blems. Ball peens are not available as blems.

We have green branded ball peens available at all times. I can apply a pretty good "good cousin" discount to purchases of green ball peens.

Got my green #3 blems today. They look pretty, minus some scuffing on the sides. I'm sure I'll put a lot more on them though :D

Thanks Richard and everyone at TC!

I'm guessing the scuffing is TC's method of obscuring the brand of the tool so it isn't mistaken for a "regular" production version and thereby warrantied some time in the future. We've had blems (aka seconds) with the brand obscured as yours are... All good though!

Yup, that's what I figured. The handle still has the MATCO on it, so these were Matco blems. The actual blem I think is one face has a slight divot instead of being truly convex, but not enough to matter. I'm more than happy with them though!

What sizes are in the Blems now. If I was looking for different colors do I just need to keep asking when you make new runs for any Blems that might come in that batch?
Thanks

We always have some blem hammers on hand. We have an abundance of Model #3 hammers right now, and we're offering a two-pack of Model #3 for $30 dollars. We have quite a few Model #7 blems, too. Smaller blems are in short supply. Anybody who is interested in blems should send a PM including full name, address, and email, along with blems in which you might be interested. I give this information to the Sorceress. She is keeping tabs on available blems. She will then get in touch with you via email about a possible order. Different colors are available, but not for all models.

Working my way up to a sledge. Richard how long do you think those #7's will be around?

We have quite a few Model #7 blems--one or two blue, a couple gray, and reds.

Thanks for the pictures; we always appreciate enthusiastic customers!

Also, you're very welcome. Feel free to PM or email me if there are more you would like to have. :)
