Yep, I've seen it with my own eyes!

Here's more from that experience:

It was a lot of fun, but I do wish that I could have done more to "build my own drill." C'mon, I can solder a couple of wires, and route others!

My favorite part was watching the motor winding machine building up DCF885 impact driver motors:

Sometimes companies are reluctant to install "high tech" manufacturing equipment in foreign countries for various reason. Automate armature/coil winders are NOT high tech, even with high speed balancing.

As a matter of fact, small DC motors is such an extremely competitive market that for high volume applications you could probably get manufacturing quotes from a dozen or more companies in 6 or 8 countries. Samples in a few day to a few weeks and volume production in a couple of months. Biggest issue usually is the volume and the quality.

Auto companies by 100s of millions a year.

If dewalt continues on this path they risk acquiring large quantities of my money. I've always been a vintage plug in Milwaukee man, but battery technology has changed. I love good options.

Makita has made some US stuff for several years now.Maybe a US fanatic can get a rundown of exactly what.
my Makita stuff is from all over the place but I want to say one of the grinders is US. Saw is China.a drill from Brazil ?
NOOP A long stem electric die grinder beast.

Makes no difference. If someone screws up QC Makita sends a team of Ninjas in at night and ****** :shocking::scared:

I think they might be buying the brushless motors from an outside supplier, but the brushed motor is made with commercial equipment made by Globe USA.

I believe that SB&D owns their own factories, for products they produce themselves, and so even if they do send equipment overseas, it's not as if they're putting it in the hands of an OEM they can't oversee closely enough.

Only Dewalt execs know why they made the decision to bring some product assembly and manufacturing back to the US, but I'm not complaining.
