Hi, working on a KR-1000 I just picked up and the bottom is full of broken plastic donuts from the ends of the slides. Some are still in place, most are broken. The box is in great shape, slides work great, but needs the black plastic donuts.
Can't find them on the SnapOn site

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/part...roup_id=7659&test=Roll+Cab;$0.00;KR1000;34049

Really want to put it back in shape soon.

Has a few small nicks in it from shop accidents but is otherwise very nice.
Came with a KR-1100 top that needs one set of slides (on the big bottom drawer) but is otherwise very nice also.
The KR-1100 also needs most the rubber donuts...
Any help on the part number would be appreciated.

They don't quite look like these, by the way

8-88RRK
8-88HDRK
8-88HSRK
8-88ANRK
8-88ASNRK
8-88SWRK
8-88WRK

None of the pictures look like them, although I find 8-88SWRK to look like some of the detents. Most the rest look just like Matco detents, black similar to the white ones in my second link.

I'm gonna have to guess and just order about 60 bucks worth of them. Hope they fit.

With a few of the 8-88SWRK thrown in.

Thanks
Chris

Are the slides Accuride, or are they Snap on? If they are made by Accuride then take some pictures of them and email them to Accuride on their website. I did this, and they sent me new detents for all the drawers on my box free of charge.

Interesting idea.
Too tired tonight but Sunday I may check into the brands on the slides.
Thanks

You'll probably have to pull them out and extend them in order to see the brand. Well worth the time when you get a chance.

Nuts, was going to order a selection of them.
SnapOn is out of stock.
On all of them.
Waste of time, I will have to find some other vendor that will sell them.

Getting to be a habit, each time I try to order from SnapOn they don't have it, can't get it, no longer stock it.

The slide detents for that box are 8-88SWRK.

If you want the extra firm detents, they're 8-88WRK.

Thanks Merk, but they still don't have them.
Know any other sources that may actually have the part?
Thanks

Did you ever check on the brand?

Accuride on the two I have out.
If SnapOn can supply them I don't mind paying the 1.30 they are asking for detents.
Seems almost all the detents in the KR1000 are shot, Found four that are worth saving, but if I get new ones they will go in the spare parts bin.
About a third of the detents on the KR1100 are bad, so I am going to try the other detents on them. If that works fine. If not those are SnapOn slides so I'm out of luck. Unless I get Matco detents, which seem to work, but not quite firm enough.
I tried four leftover detents I had from the Accuride slides in my Matco, almost right.

Putting detents in without removing all the drawers is possible, on the big side anyway. I am doing it by pulling the bottom drawer and laying inside the box with the drawers pulled all the way out.
I don't really want to pull all the drawers as they are not very dirty, the slides are clean and working well. Except for the broken detents, of course. These look like original detents.
These boxes are from the late 80's (86-87) and never been apart.
They were used in a shop as tool storage, then another shop for what looks like light use.
I do have what looks like a fork lift ding in the front bottom, deep in the trim. You can see it in the photo. Gonna patch that (it's just cosmetic) then if I can get the detents working it will be a nice box.

Like i said, if you take pics of the slides and detents and send them to Accuride, they will send you however many you need for free. Their slides carry a lifetime warranty, and they do stand behind them.

Do the slides look like this? If so then you'll want to replace the middle stop/detent while you are in there.

The gray one on the left will last longer, but you have to pull significantly harder to open the drawer. If you call Accuride, they'll probably ask you for the length and width of the slide, plus the application; in this case, a toolbox.

Well, I'll give it a shot. Needs the inner ones on at least half of the slides.

Couldn't hurt.
I'll do it Monday.

Thanks for the tip.
Don't really want them hard to pull, shakes up the tools. The box will seldom be rolled anywhere so standard will work fine.
Thanks again.

Chris, are you keeping or selling. I really like the KR1000 I have and don't care if it ever sells.

Since they are sorta matched I'm planning on keeping them.
I could wish for longer drawers but I hope these will work out for my intended use.

Gonna have to sell some of the smaller boxes though. Don't have that many tools, and even with the new second garage space is worth more than boxes.

I'mt going to keep the big Matco, the SnapOn, the Sears Industrial and maybe a few of the Waterloo, Husky and Crafsman boxes. The big Torin and some of the Craftsman will go on CL when ever I get finished with this box.
May keep my Cornwell side box though.

Dang, I got too many boxes...

And I find I need touch up paint.
Not listed on the site, and the only touch up paints I found where N/A on price?

There was a one inch ding in the bottom, I dollyed that out today and primered the strip. Tried some paint that seemed to match. Nope. Need the right color.

Could have some mixed but hopefully you can buy touch up paint for SnapOn like everyone else.

Hi Everyone ,
I finaly made it here. After 45 years of mechanic I'm Rretired! But as many others I still have many Questions.I pulled my tool box out of the shop last monday.I plan on restoring it as I did 15 years ago between jobs. All the drawers are pulled cleaned and just about sanded. This is a KR 1000 snap on box.It was made and purchased in 1987.I replaced many drawer slides over the years due to the fact it was over weighted.I also replaced 2 of the 4 wheels due to bearing failure. For your info they have a life time warranty..Anyway I plan on using this box in my garage for the next couple years for side jobs. Here is my question,I replaced the dentents and noticed the front rubber cushions were missing. These cushions look like a dog bone with a slot in each end and made of rubber like the detent.I called snap on but they said I would have to buy the whole slider.ouch. I called accuride but could not get through.Does anyone know the part number of this or an interchange where I can them?
Thanks,
Mark
