Haven't used it yet, seems light weight and good for light trimming. Don't expect much from it, but I am sure it will we've its purpose.

It was on the floor in the lawn and garden department at Sears.

The shop vac is pretty good for small cleanups. I used to clean out my car with it until I put outlets on the outside of my garage, now I use a corded vac for that. I do still use the cordless vac in the house if I'm doing any cutting/woodwork and need to cleanup sawdust, or if I'm doing small jobs at someone else's house.

First post here... Been watching gj for awhile now and decided I it was about time to jump in.

I have the shop vac, it is great. Worth it's cost and then some. It is a little larger than I expected but that is okay. I never thought I would use it as much as I have. With an XCP battery it runs great and it sure beats dragging in the full sized vacuum to clean up just a little mess. I have even used it with my miter saw when not using it in the shop.

Also I saw earlier in the tread mention of a prototype LED light. I can confirm that is in fact an aftermarket mod. I would suggest a better option than that that can drop into the standard craftsman spotlight with rotating head with a little effort. I have two and they are much brighter than the stock set up. It's made by some engineer in a garage in Taiwan who does nice work. He calls it a fusion 48 and it has 48 LEDs in it. It just replaces the xenon bulb. He used to sell on eBay but has his own site now. I have bought from him on eBay and at his new site. http://www.thefusionlite.com/1luledupgrfo6.html

There are a number of discontinued tools in this old advertising pic. A spiral saw, a planer, and a router.

I just saw this thread -- I can't believe I missed it before now.

I have that combo kit! I think it's really nice to have the three tools you mentioned -- I don't use them that often, but they really come in handy sometimes. I use the radio every day, and the impact driver is my go-to tool for most jobs. And I use the shop-vac as a blower around the yard.

I received the kit up as a birthday gift almost a decade ago. It was pricey at $500, but I think it included every C3 tool available at the time, along with 4 NiCd batteries and a rolling hard plastic case. I've been very happy with it overall, and I just upgraded to Li ion batteries last year, along with adding the Max Access wrench to the collection.

Cool. The kit is definitely more cost effective than buying piecemeal. You, uh, wouldn't happen to have an extra fan, would you? :)

I wish! No, unfortunately the fan wasn't available until later, after I got the kit. Now that I've read this thread, I want one of those fans!

Anybody have any real experience with the stapler? There's one for sale in the area for $45. I know the reviews online were not entirely positive, but figured I'd ask. I may pick it up regardless if it's still available this weekend.

The early stapler is not great, severe lack of power. The air strike or whatever it's called is pretty good tho.

Thanks. I believe the air strike is the brad nailer. Agree, pretty good. I like it. Perhaps I'll pass on the stapler. There's an planer on eBay. I'll have to see if I can find some reviews.

I use the vacuum for cleaning my cars. It's nice not having to drag an extension cord around. It's a power hog so having the large XCP battery improves its utility.

I showed my 4 yr old how to use the blower to blow leaves and saw dust out of the garage. His excited "I did it!" was worth the price admission right there!

I normally have all kinds of sand and grit and junk that pile up behind where the garage door tracks meet the floor. It's a pain to get out with a broom. The blower gets it out in a second. Not sure how I lived without a blower all these years. Definitely the tool purchase of the year.

Really? When did that happen? I just saw it the other day. It's been awhile since any new tools have been released. It just seems like the product line continues to be whittled down over the past two years.

this time of year, they get rid of older models to (hopefully) bring out refreshed ones for fathers day.

I made one cut with it, and liked it enough to sell my cheapie miter saw. Seems real solid, easy to adjust, and decent power.

Wait, what's cheaper than the C3?

You and I have very different opinions on what's a useful tool. I bought this little guy and returned it, it's basically only useful for 2x4's.

Happy C3 user since 2005. Still using my original Ni-Cad batteries; also have a few Li-Ion batteries. Lots of cordless tools. Use them regularly.

Li-Ion batteries won't charge in the original Ni-Cad chargers, need the "multi-chemistry" chargers. The MC chargers monitor the batteries and won't let them overcharge.

Talked to store manager and discovered that this means 2 of the item are "on order" for each store: one display and 1 to sell.

The item apparently can not be ordered for shipping so good luck.

Jusy found that out as you did showing in stock at my store but wont let you buy one yet.

...a sloppy no name corded 7-1/4" miter saw that sold on CL for $30, $5 more than I paid for it new 5 years ago!

I have an older RAS, and a table saw, no real need for a corded miter saw.

Hey all I have a bunch of C3 stuff and picked up the grinder and the jigsaw this weekend on CL for what I thought was a decent deal $65. The only problem is the grinder was missing the handle and the guard. The guy said he had them but he needed to find them so hopefully I will get them but if not I'm trying to figure out what to do. The handle was no problem as I just pulled one of a cheapo HF grinder. Was going to do the same for the guard but the opening is way to small. Anyone know if its possible to get this part or know of another grinder that has about the same size opening that I could order a replacement for?

Re: Craftsman 19.2v C3 Kit Price. Good deal?

I would prefer that this thread not turn into which line to buy. There are a number of those already. I've already done my research, I have preferences, and want to go with Craftsman. I would like to stick with whether or not the current price is a good deal or if I should wait for a better price.

Thanks, everyone.

I have the 1/2 drill and i think its great for the price so no complaints here cant go wrong with the c3's

Agreed with fras_auto, I've been using these tools for years, and some like the 1/2" impact have proven worth their weight in silver at least, maybe not gold... :)
I'm no Craftsman fanboy by any means, but their C3 line has really proven a great value.
