I bought one of the Harbor Freight air dryers this week and installed it tonight. When I got finished with it and was cleaning up I saw a cigarette **** on the ground in the garage. Since no one in the house smokes I was drawn to it. I checked the brand and guess what? It was a Chinese cigarette!

One of those little bastards actually threw a cigarette **** in the product as they were boxing it up!

I don't know why but this is funny as hell to me. It goes against everything you would expect from most companies but for some reason this doesn't shock me in the least from HF. The dryer works great and was half the price of anything made around here. It might not be the best but it's better than what I was using before. Enjoy.

You would have smelt that **** the second you opened the box; except that it was a harbor freight box

Since they're no longer allowed to ship us lead-based painted children's toys, asbestos-laden drywall, or melamine-laced dog treats they have to find another way to give us cancer...

What are the spec's on the unit (cfm, pressure, power)? How do you have it plumbed - before the tank, after the tank?

I've had the same unit installed at my shop for about a year, maybe a bit more, and I can't say enough good things about it.

Mine is plumbed in after the tank - all the air that goes out into the shop passes through the cooler.

I had some problems with it last spring - working all day at the shop and using a lot of pneumatic grinders. Over time, I noticed that the grinders were getting slower and slower. I suspected that the unit was freezing up and the condensate was blocking the flow of air.

Verified that by opening the bypass valve and everything worked OK after that.

Called HF tech support and got excellent help and a document that described how to adjust (if I recall) a valve on the unit that raised the cutout temp on the chiller to keep it above freezing.

One of the best things about this unit is the nice cool air that is produced. That's a real bonus when using the blasting cabinet for an extended period - hands in gloves don't get all sweaty when it's nice and cool inside the cabinet.

That's where I mounted mine too. I actually made another thread about it last night because i didn't think anyone would find this one with the title... Guess I was wrong.

Here's the other link with a better picture of the install.
