What are some good quality quick change connectors for air hoses and tools that won't break the bank? I think I am using style I/M now. However I work in my shop every day and it seems like these start leaking air way too soon and I buy more at 2-3 dollars a pop. Is there something that will last a few years? thanks!

I used the HF stuff and like you got tired of leaks. I bought Milton and never looked back.

Make sure you buy milton connectors for the hoses as well.

i spent a few more bucks and got the prevost safety ones. with one push of a button on the side they release the air pressure, then slowly eject the hose.

There is your problem.

I buy Milton, they are easy to find but there are other good "made in the USA" quality brands out there too.

After searching recently myself I found E-bay to be the least expensive, just be careful they are genuine Milton and not Milton knockoffs.

Are those "V" series a larger bore and still fit on a 1/4" hose?

Yes, and yes.

I've bought my Milton at Amazon and at Northern Tool (both online and brick and mortar.)

At the suggestion of folks here like encantofred, I bought a Prevost coupler for my most commonly used hose, and while I felt silly spending that much on one fitting... yeah, it's pretty durned nice.

And my Milton V male barbs fit in it just fine.

Milton has a very nice, thorough catalog online:

Northern Tool has them. Unfortunately my Milton high-flo couplers leak when they don't have a hose plugged in.

I have already on my 1/2" hose a large bore coupler for my 3/4" Impact. Its not a standard manufacturer though. (Got a GREAT deal on it)
Reason I asked is he photo'd it sitting beside the type of couplers I usually see on 1/4" hose. I'm looking for something to put on my 3/8" hoses.

Just want to add that the brass ones are the only way to go. Not sure if Milton makes steel and brass but I will never purchase a steel one again. I have also had good luck with the Amflo ones, but only the brass ones.

Milton V style and haven't looked back. Your air tools will thank you too!

Are those likely to be a fairly standard size? I need some connectors for my air tools for when I go to tech class this summer, but I don't know precisely what kind of hoses they'll have, though I presume they'll be somewhat standard, if there is such a thing?

My previous fittings, Campbell-Hausfeld from Wal Mart, male barb fit into my Milton coupler, but Milton barbs didn't work with the C-H coupler.

Carquest stocks some Milton proucts, too, but I think packaged as CarQuest brand. Mostly tire repair, inflation stuff, but maybe some fittings, too.

Don't ASSUME that yours will fit at school unless you get proper match.

I've had good luck with Menards brass connectors and they're normal with smaller ports. Cheap enough and you can check in store whether they click in tight before you leave the store. Double check that ALL your connectors on all tools, hoses, compressor, etc. work without leaking.

I can string out 100 ft from my little DeWalt 4 gal compressor and run any nail guns that I need. Actually had to turn down the pressure regulator a bit but I am using 3/8" BlueBird hoses.

Gets my vote as well. I have had these for years, zero leaks and it's nice and easy to connect/disconnect a tool. I actually find it alarming when I have to use a normal disconnect because I'm not used to the loud burst of air when you disconnect it. I can connect a tool with a single hand. So easy!
I get the ones with the black housing with the blue button.

We tried the Prevost style at work and they were nice but didn't hold up to every day heavy use. We ended up using some like these I found at Northern Tool. Not sure they are the exact same brand but they look the same. They take most any fitting too so you don't have to switch fittings on the tools if you use them in more than one location.

I use HF fittings in my garage, no leaks. I have recently switched to their larger bore fittings. Still, no leaks.

just changed all mine over to Milton V hi FLo !!!

i ordered from jbtoolsales.com as well, great prices as long as you buy in bulk or quantities to overcome shipping. also can pick them up onsies at Northern Tool around here.

i.e. S766 $7.99 @ Northern vs $5.11 @ JBTools

then again i only have a few 3-4 air tools and a small 60 gallon compressor.

I run the Milton V-style hi flow connectors with a 3/8" hose. You can definitely feel the difference with the hi-flow vs the standard flow connectors.
