Where does everyone (anyone?) find bearings for a DP

I need bearings for my 1960 Delta 11-100 and have had absolutely no luck with any online source so far. I have the bearing name and numbers, as well as the dimensions and just can't make the connection. I have tried McMaster-Carr, Graingers, etc. etc. and can't believe that there isn't anything out there. So, if you have an old drill press and have successfully found bearings for it, please give me a link or something.

My bearings are thrust, roller and the dimensions are ID-.625 OD-1.125 and width .345. They are made by Nice, at one time in PA. I have tried most of the bearing houses that come up on a Google search.

Thanks,

Tom

I appreciate your responses.

I check Ebay constantly.

I live in the boondocks and there is nothing like a bearing store in many, many miles.

Thanks,

Tom

Purvis Bearing in Dallas has a huge selection. Hinge bearing for a Swedish made safe 30 years old. In stock.

Most bearings have a trade number stamped into them, which translates to a size. Then you can get it from wherever.

For example, 6203 is a common size on auto pulleys multiple times.

Throw your numbers up here. Does it have an extended inner race with a tapped hole in it?

My bearings are thrust, roller and the dimensions are ID-.625 OD-1.125 and width .345. They are made by Nice, at one time in PA. The bearing is stamped Nice 6000. I have found some 6000 bearings, but not with the dimensions I need. It does not have an extended inner race with a tapped hole.

Are they exactly .625 and 1.125? Most bearings are metric. I have a Homecraft (which is an 11-100) but have not taken it apart as it runs just fine. Just curious if maybe metric dimensions would help with your search.

Yes, they are exactly that size. My neighbor friend, (a retired machinist, tool and die man) remeasured them to check my readings and they are the same. When you take that 11-100 (same as mine) apart, you'll find that most, or all of everything on it is not metric.

This is frustrating, but not insurmountable!! :>)

Thanks,

Tom

Does your bearing take the same one as the Delta DP220?

I've been lead to believe that you can use the whole spindle and bearing setup, but that you can't just use the bearings. I can't verify that, but it's what I've read elsewhere on the forum.

Thanks,

Tom

If so, here ya go.

http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=121117&p=813057&hilit=220+bearing#p813057

I assume that's the thread about the adapter sleeves with modern bearings a member at OWWM is fabricating? If so, I was just going to go to Google and look for that.

If not, the OP should double check that. There are a handful of threads here on Garage Journal and elsewhere on the web about adapter sleeves for these drill presses.

A 5/8" bearing in a fractional size of 5/8" (.625) is an R10. However, the standard OD on this bearing is 1-3/8" (1.375). Some older machinery specified special made bearings which can be obsolete. On a large drill press of mine, I was able to find a bearing with the ID and thickness correct, but not the correct OD. I had to machine an adapter sleeve for it. However, the reason I got the drill press for free was because someone gave up on finding that bearing. Your issue is the opposite however, and could be a problem to find. On the parts listing I looked up it showed the bearings as not available. There could be some new old stock still floating around if you get lucky. The fractional bearings I found that had an OD of 1.125 had an ID of .500.

Yep. That's the guy. His name is Jim.

I just bought a set of spindle bearings from him. Turns out my spindle is really out of spec and on the small side. I think someone may have turned it down to clean it up.

Anyway. Jim is going to make me some custom bearings.

Well I have a router spindle for my dp220. I was going to sell it, even had it listed. But I pulled it.

While researching it, it says it will fit the 14'' dp220, and the 11'' dp225.

Is yours a dp225?

Do you have a caliper or a micrometer. If so, let's do some measuring,,,,lol.

I'll measure my parts for you if you want.

We live in rural Oklahoma , I understand . We have an auto parts house that has a whole lot of dang near everything thank goodness . I took my bearing in , think it was a cbc 202 ? They have books to cross referance them . Would think most parts houses would be able to do the same for you .

One of mine looks like the one of yours on the right in your picture, but definitely not like the one on the left in your picture. What does the other side of the one on the right in your picture look like? (Bottom side)

Mine is an 11-100 Model not a DP225.

I don't think it's the right bearing. This is my pulley bearing. It is bigger.
It's 2'' o.d.

That's what I found too. I'll keep looking, but if I can't find something I think my friend will press out that lower bronze bushing inside the quill and replace it with a new one. It's a little worn and perhaps a new bushing will make the spindle fit tighter just above the chuck. I'd like to do both, but I don't want to get too obsessive with it either. :D

Thanks for your input.
