It's guys like you that I have always admired and pursued being like but at the ripe young age of 62 I'm finding it harder to find the guys like you out there who are still willing do the projects like this one, especially on their own. Great inspiration and thanks to you and your wife for the post.

Hi Nasman, and wife,

I have read all the pages up to this, and I am in awe of your craftmanship. You are part of a vanishing breed of carpenters. My grandfather, and father being amongst that rare breed also.
I am in the process of having plans drawn up for my 12m x 12m shed, and will use your build as an inspiraton. Any plans for your home made moveable scaffolding, as I have some tall walls, and roof framing to work on. I especially like your hoist set up.
Keep the pictures coming, and those of futrue projects.

Cheers from Down Under,

Ken

Thanks for your interest in our build.
No plans for "Derrick". Every build would require "Derrick" to be tailored to that project. Not hard to make one, once you have your building plans locked in. We also utilized some material that we had, others might have other items that could work as well for them. For example, one might build one off of a small trailer.
If you can download a pdf file, we have a 348 picture format file that is available from our web site. Just click on the link below. This covers building "Derrick" and his use in the framing. All the way up to the completion of the center main frame.
Thanks again, Lin and Dave.

For all of you that have asked for more pictures, we now have a way for you to download the PDF file, FREE, that contains the first 350 pictures of the build. From the site prep to the erection of the center frame. Including the building and use of Derrick.

6-16-15-UPDATE; Sorry, we can no longer provide the download for free. The cost to do so is more than we can handle. We have however set the price as low as we can.

Thank you, and again sorry.

Thanks for asking.
2015 has not been one of our best years. Will be glad to see it leave.

I spent most of October in the Hospital. We didn't see that coming. The barn is not finished. Needed to get small addition to rear done , which is close but rains here all spring and into summer it didn't get done. Had some other problems on the property to take care of as well.
Main project left on barn are the doors. It is usable , but not totally secure to small critters.
If and when I get past these health problems we will get back to it. I have worked thru other ailments in the past , and look forward to the future.
Lin is doing well , but it has been hard on her.

Again , Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

Also a Happy and Healthy 2016.

No I have not. I am still having issues with understanding the computer. I also need to get some pictures downloaded to our site server so that they can be added to these posts in full size.

Let me just tell the good folks that we replaced the little MINI with a 2013 Mustang Convertible. Race Red with The Saddle Brown leather interior. It is a MCA edition One of only six MCA's produced in that color combination.

I'm new to joining this website, however I've been reading many of the great time line blogs here for several years, on and off. I'd just like to say what an inspiring blog you've achieved here in great detail!

I have nothing but great admiration for the ambitious task of tackling a complete structure build (especially at the youthful age of 72), with such engenious craftsmanship skills, and attention to detail!

Thank you for sharing, these are blogs which make website forums like this very rewarding to read and appreciative.

To healthy new year!

Someone linked this thread from another tread about three weeks ago & I clicked in here for a peek. I didn't even make it halfway down the first page, when I decided I had to bookmark it & reserve it for a time when I could really soak it in! So now I have had the time to devote to your thread (took me 3 days to get through it), and all I can think is UNBELIEVABLE!!:willy_nil

Thank you SO much for taking the time to share your build with us all. I hope your health issues will improve, so you may see your fantastic project to fruition, and be able to enjoy it.

Here's to you, Dave & Lin, wishing many more happy years for you both!

Thanks, we have high hopes for 2016 , but only time will tell. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the thread. Need some warm weather with no wind and severe storms. That's not asking too much is it?

I'll happily send some of my weather over mate. It's the 3rd day of autumn (fall) and the next week here is going to be between 33 and 36 degrees C (91-97F). We're getting a bit of rain today, but it's been a pretty dry summer.

I'm looking forward to some cooler weather!
