Probably messed up..

So on my new 40x60 shop, I sealed it with Cabots #1000 waterproofing.
Looks to be a water base silicone sealer.

I was hoping it would dry to a nice uniform look but its just splotchy and flat.
Is there anyway to paint or acrylic seal over this product to get a shine?

Side note: There are so many opinions about floor sealers. I just wish the home improvement stores would carry something that works and looks good for water and oil resistance.

Therein lies the problem. Home improvement stores. Corp says sell XXXX product, the ZERO experience on anything DIY/construction related/part time/low paid/non-technical employee is expected to be an expert and make a call on a product that most want - to perform like a commercial product, at a price as low as possible, with little prep required and it must be able to be applied in one day and put my stuff back on it that afternoon.

Oh! Did I forget that I want it in 6 or 8 colors, with coordinated specks/flakes and it has to be impervious to (insert list here) and it can not smell bad while being applied and I want it to look slick, but not BE slick, especially when wet.

Add in the size of your garage and you are no longer in the "home improvement store" demographic.

Do yourself a favor, and call or email the several floor coating vendors here on the list. Any of them can get you a product that will serve you very well, provided you prep and mix and apply - per their directions.

Thanks but I've found that calling a sales rep to get advice on the best product is circular logic. Of course "their" products are the best.
I was hoping someone on this board had some experience they would be willing to share.

This is exactly what this forum group is for. Although the vendors here are well spoken in their specific products and how to get the best results, All are respectful of the other and each other.

I have used legacy products both sealer and epoxy and found them to perform far better than expected and at a price point often competitive with box/diy stores.

You can get advice here, that is simply not available elsewhere. Candid, accurate, and specific to your needs. They speak directly to you and provide GJ folks (references) who were at one time in your shoes. Those same GJ folks will be painfully honest with you as well. Pictures and commentary on their specific garage/floor will be available to you. Few vendors perform as well as the group here. Many have substantial discounts for GJ members and some have sales from time to time.

A search of this forum group for any one of the vendors here, will return copious information, process and product as well as best practices to get the best results you can.

Give the phone or email a chance to work for you, and you will not be disappointed.

this is actually for exterior use only, according to their data (Cabot) sheets. I have found that it tends to remain slick, until weather reduces the surface gloss,for several weeks.

You can contact Cabot for specifics on removal. I have pressure washed it off, but product remains in the subsurface beyond that.

Generally I would agree with you, however to quote the late Tom Callahan " I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ***, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it."

As kd3pc posted, the vendors here are top shelf, They know their products best, and will give honest accurate advice on products and procedures.

I called Valspar/Cabot and they do not recommend any other stain or paint.
Looks like I'm just s.. out of luck.

First of all, in many cases the Home Centers have great products, they just lack the experience to tell you what to use and how to use it. The problem with this product and going back with something else is it tends to penetrate very well. In this case that is bad

I have seen it where even after grinding subsequent coatings can fail in spots because their is still residual. Do you have some pics. Part of me is wondering if you got the result you got because there was something already on the floor, even a cure n seal, or if the application rate just was not right. How much material did you use? What was the texture of the floor prior to application
