Looking to buy some gearwrench ratchets but never really looked into them tomuch.

Which tooth count is stronger? 84 or 120
Any down sides to either tooth count vs the other?
Has anyone been disappointed with there gearwrench ratchets?

I have a full set of the 120XP's and love them. Although they have 120 positions (3% arc movement) they are infact only 60 tooth. They use two pawls to achieve the position. This design gives them great strength but still fell buttery smooth. I think for the price they cant be beat.

I know i shouldn't, but i hang off my 1/2 long flex head model all day and its never skipped a tooth. I have no problem recommending them.

i have a set of tne Gearwrench 120t rachets. I use them frequently servicing my own vehicles and they have worked perfectly. But i also use breaker bars and impact guns where appropriate. A 120t rachet is a huge advantage when working in limited clearance areas.

I have a 120xp 1/4" ratchet and I've said it many times, I like it better than my Snap On T72. It is smoother and thinner. It also is a bit longer as I feel the T72 is too short for my man hands. I don't own an 84T, but always heard good things. The only thing I don't like is the 120xp's aren't made with quick release. Only 84T are. I will be buying one soon.

I'd say they're strong, but I would never put a ton of force on any fine tooth ratchet like this. The 120xp, dual 80, Maxx 88, etc. You need to know when enough is enough. Obviously a 3/8 would take more than a 1/4 and 1/2 more than 3/8, but I picture in my head all those self propelled toy cars I had as a kid. Eventually, I would play so hard they would break, and all the little fine tooth plastic gears inside would fall out all chewed up and broken. I have never had a problem with any of my newer ratchets, but as mentioned above, I know when to use a breaker bar.

Here's a good deal on a set of flex head soft grips. We were discussing this on another thread recently. You can buy the pair from Amazon for about $40 less than if you bought them separately on the same page. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BTEXV52/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Also I bought these a few months back. They are the exact same as the Gearwrench, just Crescent written on the grips. They are both made by Apex. Literally the exact same. For $19 you cannot go wrong. http://www.cripedistributing.com/crescent-crw17-2-pc-1-4-3-8-roto-ratchet-set.html

I also bought a 1/4" Gearwrench 51 piece socket set with 120xp ratchet for cheap and everything in the kit has served me well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KD-Tools-Ge...TuIXxl_9p3s1f4rHK3g&item=131740703847&vxp=mtr

i was originally looking at this set and then just buying a single 1/2dr GW to match them

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FAH9QTO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Well just keep in mind those are 84T ratchets and not the 120xp versions.
I'd do this.

This way you will have 120xp in the smaller drive stuff where you really want those fine teeth and the 84t for the bigger 1/2" for strength. Then you can fill in the rest with which ever tooth count you like best.

I own both and prefer the 84 tooth versions. The 120XP heads are slightly larger than the 84 tooth version. Gearwrench did radius the outer edge of the 120XP flex head to make it look smaller though. Gearwrench makes some of my favorite ratchets that get used daily at work. They haven't disappointed me. I like the extra length offered with the comfort grip versions:thumbup:

How does the comfort grip hold up for everyday use?

I have the 120XP in 3/8 & 1/4. I'm not a pro, mine get used every other day or so. No problems with either. I like them pretty well.

Can someone post side-by-side pictures of the Maxx 88, the Gearwrench 84T and the 120xp in 1/4" and 3/8" drives please? I am still in a dilemma on which ones to get.

I have a set on the 84t and like them very much. I bought the comfort grip set with 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" with a free 3/8" flex head, bent handle spark plug ratchet, also with comfort grip from Network Tools Warehouse on one of their buy one, get one deals for $91-92 delivered. Used them to pull 5 speed ****** out of a Ford Ranger and they never skipped a beat.

I have not used the 120t yet, but have been looking at a set. I find I use my older ratchets than newer high tooth count stuff.

Not sure how to get the link up, but go to the Network Tools Warehouse site. The promo # is KDT-81230F with a product code of KDT-81230FD. Current price is $91.65 + shipping.

If it doesn't come up type in Gearwrench bogo in search box. Two pages of deals come up.

There is a thread out from a couple years ago about NTX and people having problems with them. I have placed several (10-15) over a couple years and never had a problem with them either receiving wrong stuff, or loosing orders. I have tried to pull their website up at times and it shows a broken link. I get emails from them almost daily from previous purchases.

Just throwing this out there as some might bring this older thread up.

When I put that info into the site it doesn't going to the comfort grip set you talked about.
