GR8PL8 too. Love that you were able to get the color match. My neighbor has a CTS V coupe - shakes my house windows when he starts it up every morning.

Pulled the transmission from the van I just bought. Don't know how the carnage happened, the pin is still in the differential securely.

Ha I'm just about to do this same sort of install in my '02 Suburban. Same unit too. Did you get the bypass for the motion limiter?
Trim nothing and go find you a 2003-2006 dash bezel, Chev/GMC pickups and Suburban/Tahoe, all the same bezel and it goes right on the earlier models. Only the stereo / air control section is shifted a little.
It fits a double-din stereo and you just have to move your climate controls down about 5/16". Everything else is in pretty much the same place. There's several youtube vids about the conversion.
Mine is the 03, no trimming needed. Would have been nice if it was a little higher but I can live with it, ordered the bypass Tuesday, should be here on sat.

Mike528: What unit is that? I was looking at installing a pioneer 6100 unit but have heard mixed reviews.
1700s, I've only driven it for an hour and a half so far and I love it, plan on getting the backup camera here in a couple of weeks. Works great with my iPhone 6, just need to get the bypass put in and get the app for my phone.

Started disassembling wood shelves previously built to store a "grail" parts cabinet I'm hoping to score next week. The lower two levels are going to be scrapped but the top shelf will need to be raised several inches. Right now I'm wishing I'd have used less screws...

Also tore the shop apart to make sure I had all of the necessary parts and gaskets to build a rear for my Mustang. Messy as things are I finally found the bearing retainers...inside of a Coleman stove. No clue how they got there or how lucky I got that when I moved it I noticed the rattle inside that shouldn't belong to the gas tank or other accessories that might normally be inside. One day, I'll actually build it and install it. Until then, I'll continue to make "VROOM VROOM" sounds myself.

I didn't get much done IN the shop last night. I mowed my lawn for the first time of the season, then went on squeak patrol. My back door out of my garage and my man door going into my shop have had squeaks developing for a while so I decided to lube the hinges and locks/doorknobs. I also lubed the chain for the garage door opener in the garage, then afterwards I backed the Jeep out of the garage and blew the garage out before the wife got home.

Then I scrounged through my scrap metal bin to locate some tubing as I need to fabricate some new sway bar links for my Jeep.

Finished the suspension work on the rear of the Spitfire. Everything has been taken apart, cleaned, refurbished as needed, replaced if required, painted and installed. It's a good solid install. Camber compensator aftermarket upgrade installed. Now I have to bend some brake and fuel lines to go on the chassis, then slap some wheels on it and roll it out of the garage. Got other bits to work on like seats, fuel tank, etc. Have to wait for weather to stay consistently above 60F for painting.

Got a lot done on my toolbox project. I'm working on screw drivers and punches, files, odds and ends. I'm going to pull all the drawers tomorrow, clean the inside of the box and lube all the drawer slides. Hopefully I can post a finished product photo.

Everyone told me this round of down time would be months, but back to work I go. Been cleaning up, ditched the useless to me half ton for a little buzz bomb good on gas, bonus that it's half the size of the truck so I gain more valuable floor space next to the bronco.

Today is install my new gates, double padlocked and all, as well hard wire my motion sensor lights. Why would anyone want them on a switch?

I've been using motion sensing switches in my shop for over 20 years. The only drawback is if you sit still too long, out they go. So you may want to pick up my habit of a single AAA LED flash light for that situation to get you back to where the motion detector can "see" you... I've been carrying the same Dorcy light for well over 20... (Hardly any blue anodize left on it...)

Replaced rear brake pads and rotors on SWMBO's Outback. Had to improvise a drum puller because the screw for my gear puller had gone missing. Now headed back out to do the front brakes on the Mustang, change the oil & filter, and clean up the work benches (again).

I would have to say it's been a pretty productive morning. First replaced all of my old wheel studs on the Rally car with ARPs and then added a vacuum connection from the closet into the garage along with its own dedicated switch next to the dedicated compressor switch. Now to just play the waiting game until my 60 feet of vacuum hose shows up.

And yes the hose does detach and has a flexible rubber connection so it doesn't break apart at the wall as the hose is moved around

Electricians came out yesterday and ran the main feed, did outlets, plugs, and switches, and all lighting. Shop is now powered up! :booyah:

Hanging more drywall today, and mounted the now-functioning garage door opener switch.

Put a final coat of primer on the little Wilton vise and then hit the bottom side with some Rustoleum Hammered silver paint. It's probably dry enough to flip it over and spary the topside now.

EDIT: went out, flipped it over and did the topside. Now it has all night to dry....being Rustoleum, it'll probably need it.

Not my garage, but the high school's robotics team's today. Fought with dull cutters trying to make some cables (this means time to teach the kids what to do with dull cutters). I was never a fan of sharpening cutters but it is worth a try.

Lent the kids my EDC flashlight so they could see to put pins in black PVC pipe (structure for pit), then ran out to the store and bought them a couple of LED flashlights for the road kit.

Delivered new laptop with programming software for driver's station, then coached a young fellow on how to speak to VIPs. He is clever and articulate, he'll do fine :)

Sliced mid-way through a hockey puck to be used in conjunction with emergency car jack,
Replaced leader hose to garden hose reel, scrapped off old paint from a room door, cleaned work-space.

Pictures to be posted soon for anyone wondering. :)

Sanded and painted the last of the drywall. In an hour or so, I go back down and put some cement board on the bottom 6 inches. Then start moving stuff back where it belongs. It's amazing how much moving a few things can displace your entire life.

Cleaned up my new shop for today. Took everything out, cleaned the floors, assigned a DG area, cleaned out a lot of garbage. Now enjoying a dram for a hard days work. Cheers.

Next week. Cleaning and organizing the workbench. :)

Have a 15 month old daughter who is now getting play toys like tricycle and wagons and pedal cars and power wheels...ughh, had to find a spot that doesn't take up my work space. I knew underneath my stairs that lead to 1st floor had some space. I need to do some insulating and sealing, but this helps me out big time. The opening is 39" X 72"...i will probably do a double door of some sort, would love to hear some ideas.

I'm at the in-laws... I swept a winters worth of grit and leaves and pine needles out of their's while the boy rode around on a tricycle.

Cleaned my garage up some. Haven't had much time since moving in last fall. Had to make room for my new project parked in the back88c78ba2f760e91c4cc9f8d05d039b49.jpg8ed48cdc7402e169b98baaea27cc6af4.jpg

Before and after. Bought the bench today from lowes. Awesome bench, and took 20 minuets to assemble
