It looks like the key differences between the two saws are the fence and the motor. The Polar Bear series has a little bit more motor (or less efficient motor???, although I'd vote for the former), and a significantly better fence. Of the two, I would go for the Polar Bear.

thanks BikerDad,
I new that the fence is an upgrade just didn't know how significant of an upgrade it is. I assume that goes for the rails also. On the G0751P the rails seam to be 1 peace which should be much better.
I've never bought anything from Grizzly before, do they run any specials that I should wait for?

As I am debating which saw to get another possibility popped up on CL.

10" 14 amp General Cabinet Saw model 350 wired for 220v. Biesemeyer table extension, Biesemeyer fence and rolling saw dolly included. It seams to be in a good very condition. The price is about $200 more then what I would end up paying for Grizzly G0751P.
you guys think General 350 is better saw?

Yes, definitely. Jump on it. The General 350 a Canadian built equivalent to the Delta Unisaw and Powermatic PM66. That's either a 3hp or 5 hp motor on it. You may be able to bargain down some. The only real "home woodworker" upgrade from that would be to a SawStop (purely for the safety features & maybe dust collection, otherwise they're on par) or to a European slider, mucho bucks.

So, the General 350 is a "lifetime" machine, although the Grizzlys beat it on safety, having a riving knife (the General might, although I doubt it). The General has more power, better fence, and includes mobility.

I am happy to say that General 350 sits in my garage as I type. It came with half of dozen blades and crafstman molding set, riving knife, blade cover and other standard accessories.

Thank you!!!

Nice. Congrats.

I managed to pick up a restored 1972 powermatic pm66 last month. Prior owner painted to original color, installed a leeson usa 3hp motor, new belts, new arbor and bearings, and had the top machined. He also included an incra miter and a brand new biesemeyer fence with both short and long rail sets. Lastly it included a shop fox mobile base with extension and table legs. No diving knife but I did order a shark guard for it and a few other goodies. It's a beauty for sure. :)

Here's some pictures of the one I bought. This was the restorers thread.

Hey congrats, that is a excellent TS. Canadian built General, and some extras, good score.

I would double check that fence handle tho. It seems strange that it locks, or can even go into a nearly vertical position like that? Im assuming its a cam lock style, and should probably lock in a 3 to 4 o'clock position.

Enjoy that saw!

Thanks,

You definitely have an eye for a detail, the fence lock handle is fine and it does lock at 3 to 4 o'clock as you suggested. I guess I just didn't have the fence sitting on there right.
