I got my ductless split turned up yesterday :rocker:

No more sweating all over my nice tools. I was amazed at how easy this thing was to install. I only had to call the professionals too hook up the lines and test everything out. I still can't get over how quiet it is.

I received a quote from a pro for the entire install for $3600. I ended up doing everything myself for around $2000. That includes having a licensed HVAC technician turn up the system and sign the warranty card.

Check out my blog for the complete install: Installing a ductless mini-slit air-conditioner.

Love my Mr. Slim. It's working well for me both in the summer and winter without banging the wallet too much. I leave it on most of the time, and also installed it myself easily. :rocker:

The inside wall unit was a Restore new in box score my good wife found for $45 and found the outside unit a local on Fleabay find also new in box for $850+ tax. All said and done after supplies and installation came in well under $1200.

It is the MUZ-GE15NA, 15,000 btu heat/ac.

Wasn't looking for one as I have a window shaker ac/heat pump that was working ok for me, but my wife has a good eye for things and the Mitsu is better.

Would be nice to monitor your electricity useage for just that unit to determine actual operating costs.

Your climate is perfectly suited for mini-split.

Let us know what your running costs are and long-term feedback.

Good idea with the warranty! Fujitsu is picky about that type of thing. Signed card or not, Fujitsu may still deny warranty if it wasn't purchased and installed through a certified dealer...

Both brands are very good units. Chances are, if it was installed well, the warranty will be long dead before it ever needs service.

Is there an easy way of doing that with a small, inexpensive device? Unfortunately, we've only lived in this house since December.

That's what I'm hoping. The HVAC guys remarked that I did a better installation job than most of their coworkers. They weren't sure what to expect and were very happy when they arrived. Easy money for them.

PS ~ I could have purchased two units and installed them myself for less than the pro's quoted me.
