Exterior outlet question

Exterior entry porch on new addition. Want to add an outlet prior to vinyl siding being installed. Light will be recessed in ceiling.

Do I install a normal outlet box on the framing facing out with normal interior protrusion? Then they install correct siding surround?

That's what I did on my new construction garage. I installed a new work box facing out, then after siding I used an exterior in use cover. Not sure if that was the correct way but it worked fine for me.

See if your siding people have the flat- square trim piece, where the box will sit flat/flush at the siding, kind of like this:

Another vote for the Arlington boxes. I used the horizontal version on my house. They look much nicer than the usual protruding covers.

I will give one more shout out to Arlington. The small black pieces of plastic that cover the cord hole are easily lost. I normally just leave it in the box while the cord is in use but the contractors just pitched them. I called them and told them my issue and they passed me onto someone in customer service. He sent me a hand full of the "bug plugs", and even included a few extra covers as the ones I purchased were an older style that they would not have replacement covers in the event something broke in the near future.

I have used dozens of those Arlington boxes. They are great. The white ones can be painted to match the siding. There are also smoked acrylic covers available.
