hmmm... you could have done worse... that ain't too bad for US-made stuff like that. far better than any that have been listed on Ebay in the last few months. looks like you got a decent ratchet or two in the mix as well!

That's not bad as I count over 40 sockets.

FYI the Sears 3/4" socket set (think around 16 piece SAE) is $149 and there is more info in the Sears Deal thread. With SYW and other discounts, you can get to $115 to $120 or so. This may be last go around of Made in USA sets.

I've got a line on SK 3/4" complete set . . . but he wants $500 . . . yeah right.

Might keep the penncraft ratchet, and a few of the smaller sockets. Any issues with the p&c sockets?

Mine shows up tomorrow, let's hope it's US made.

The P&C stuff was made in Portland, Oregon (Milwaukie, to be precise). It was a regional manufacturer that was bought out by Plomb/Proto in the 1940s and continued production of the P&C line of tools until the late 60s. If I have my history correct, I believe the plant in Oregon continued making Challenger and Blackhawk tools for Proto well into the 90s before finally being shut down. The bottom line, if your BIL complains, slap some sense into him or feel free to PM myself or any other P&C collector - we'll take those sockets off your hands!

I'm seeing the 24 piece set for alot more than that.

I'd say the OP did alright especially given the fact he's passing some on to his BIL.

I was wrong on number of pieces . . . it's actually 16 piece 3/4" drive set for $149 that is $100 off original $249 price. I went back and edited that post to correct.

See here for 16 piece set at Sears:

+1 that OP did smokin' well since he has SnapOn ratchet !!

I've bought a few 3/4 misc socket auctions. I've never been lucky enough to get the ratchets and extensions. Those ratchets make it a good deal.

You got a good deal. US made 3/4" drive stuff is not cheap and you could quickly spend $130 on a few extensions and large sockets.

I checked my 3/4 socket drawer. I have US made sockets, non truck brand from $5 to $25 each. Most fall in the $10 to $15 range. The OP did great!!
Truck brand are 1/2 of retail.

Is this drawer overloaded?:willy_nil

They are all for sale. I have a used tool store. Right now, I have no online presence. I was just posting to enhance the thread.

I fear the penncraft ratchet is worn out. It keeps slipping and slipping and skipping. That must be why the snapon was in the mix.
