I just got this today. I don't do power tools like this but wow, this thing was barely ever used! Even a couple bits in with it in the original packages. Carrying case is like new. I doubt I will keep it but thought maybe someone here would enjoy seeing it. I thinki it is about a '65? It's a beautiful tool :D

I have one of those, except mine is from 1963.

I believe you're right about yours being from '65. Mine has the vertical case while I think later models came with the horizontal case. Or is it the other way around? Hmm?

That's a nice router. I like how shiny they are. Mine works great too.

Nice find!

That's awesome! Congrats. The case reminds me of my dad's circular saw when I was growing up. Wish they still made them like that. Good luck with it.

Crazy story. I bought it this afternoon from a guy along with an old Stanley belt sander, then went to meet a guy to sell the rest of all those wrenches I had. Showed him the router, he liked it and gave me a sweet price for it!

The belt sander I got to use. I'll throw it up here once I get it cleaned up and working. It's neat, too. HEAVY! :D

I have a little older Craftsman router, and I have wondered if there should be a badge or plate in the middle of the big knob in the first picture. I'll have to check some catalogs if nobody knows. Nice find!

Not that I have seen in the very little looking I did. Just the gold one on the front.

if you do decide to use it, you may want to take it apart and clean/re-grease it (assuming that is possible, never had one apart before). I got an old early 70's porter cable circular saw new (ok maybe was used once-original blade looked like new) in the steel case with all attachments, manuals etc. was going to use it but it turned hard by hand. took it apart to find the vintage original grease had solidified. after cleaning and re-greasing it is a great saw, but I think if I had just plugged it in and used it, I may have destroyed the bearings in short order.

just something to think about...

So what would be the correct grease for vintage drills, saws, etc.? Thanks.

no idea, I just always use whatever grease is in the grease gun or whatever tub of bearing grease is handy. never had a problem, fresh grease is gotta be better than old hardened up stuff...
