Back in my working life I was a Food Safety Inspector. Mainly large Bakeries, some warehousing, a few Meat plants and one or two sweet goods plants. I also taught Ground Crew Safety at several airports on the East coast. I was also the company safety trainer. (BBP, PPE, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, LO/TO.....that kind of stuff.)

I retired at age 35. (A few lucky real estate investments and a wife that makes a TON of money.) Now days I am a stay at home dad, tool collector, car guy (without a car ) and general flunky.

Soon to be retired police officer. As a matter of fact, this coming week will be my last.

Congrats brother I'm 15 years away and already counting down the days Man it seems like a lifetime away though. I love my job, but I really fear what it's going to become when the politicians are done ripping every benefit we have from us. When the balance of risk vs. reward is skewed, the value of the applicants will as well be skewed. It should be interesting to see what the world will look like when it's Police Officers are hired from the same applicant pool as McDonalds, Wal-Mart, temp agencies and unemployment lines.

I work in Human Resources. Specifically, I am the Senior Compensation Analyst for a large healthcare system.

I do have a bit of an automotive background, though. I hung out at my father's transmission shop when I was a kid and then actually helped out when I was in high school. I learned a lot from him and it was great fun. I have been working on cars and other motorized machines as a hobby every since.

I find out stuff about you, your family, your grandparents, great grandparents blaa blaa blaa... I'm a Landman for a small oil and gas brokerage firm. Search court records, cure title, leases and purchases, track town heirs (anyone have any good connections in France or Venezuela??? I gotta find someone). I get to talk with a lot of people from around the country, and in other countries. Lots of interesting stories, most of the time I know more about their family tree than the individuals themselves. Every day is different but I enjoy every bit of it.

I am active duty Air Force. Been in for 22 years. Here is my job description:

Tactical Air Command and Control Specialists are part of a team called a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP). The mission is to advise US Army combat commanders on the use of Air Force air power. One example of air power is a fighter aircraft attacking targets close to friendly troops. This is Close Air Support and is a very important part of the TACP mission. It is the TACP's job to control the fighters and to make sure they attack the correct target. This unique mission requires operating on the battlefield. TACPs communicate with other tactical air and ground units by use of state-of-the-art radios, while mirroring the maneuver capabilities of our Army counterparts. Whether it's parachuting out of an airplane from 1000 feet with the 82nd Airborne Division, engaging in a tank assault with the 1st Armored Division, or operating deep behind enemy lines with the 75th Ranger Regiment, the TACP mission is the same…PUTTING BOMBS ON TARGET!
