I bought a Snap-On ratchet at the flea market one time; it was just like yours.... what was interesting and I have never seen this again..... it had a hairline crack on the head! Snap-On replaced it but that is a issue; I have never seen duplicated! That particular ratchet has the unique "three rings" and the shaft is sort of flattened and not quite round... right? I think they are 50s vintage designs.... whats the date code?

Billy I had a 1/2" snapon from the fifties that had a hairline crack in it as well.Dealer gave me a new one as a replacement.May have been a common problem with them.Date code on the one shown appears to be 1951,mine was a 52.

We have two pawn shops which specialize in tools and a couple of others which have quite a few on hand. I seldom buy much there, as they want 1/2 of list price for truck brands. Once in a great while I find something: over twenty years, I've bought a NAPA brand top box, a Snap-on PH3050 air hammer supposedly with problems, a vice, strut spring compressor, so less than once a year. I just check in to keep a check on the high end of the used-retail market.

thnx, jack vines
