I really like the idea of using SPGX especially since it is available in colors now. For anyone that has used just one coat do you think it covered well or do you wish you would have gone with two coats. Also is the anti-slip additive needed or is it ok without it? What is your overal impression of the products durability?

Thanks
Tom

Hi
Most customers can get away with a single coat. If your floor though is porous or has issues, you would need a second coat. On bare concrete two coats are always best.

As for a non skid, we always recommend using one in a garage which can get wet or oily. We recommend Skid Tex or our smaller particle size ArmorGrip.

I am building this spring - what are the recommendations for the use of any products (for curing for example) on the slab before SPGX ? Any allowed ?

Are contractors open to dispense with sealer and curing agents to better prep floors for finishes ?

I would ideally like 2 and possibly 3 different floor finishes -

1. about 750ft^2 I would like to stain and then use a clear sealer - SPGX a possibility over which stains?

2. 1500 ft^2 - a workshop - so at least a nice clear sealed surface although leaning toward a solid grey of some type.

3. 2000 ft^2 - a garage - could be the same as the workshop leaning toward a nice clear sealed finish.

SPGX a candidate for all these ? Some ?

Also, what prep is required for recoating/refreshing SPGX over time? Solvent wash or will some level of sanding be required?

SPGX requires very little prep. Many customers have done nothing on standard, bare concrete, but we always recommend an acid etch if possible. Please don't use solvents.

The question was on maintaining a SPGX floor - can it be recoated if necessary or to regloss over time? what would be required to do so?

Any answers to post 4?

These thinner, one part type of coatings appeal to me over the thicker full epoxy coatings, just trying to understand more about them and how to use it.

The connection between Armorultra epoxy and Armorultra SPGX is confusing, and can you point to the directions for SPGX on the website?

I was looking for the SPGX info on the site too and couldn't find. Thanks for help!

I did a single relatively heavy coat in my garage with no prep (new concrete) other than two high pressure washes the builder did and blowing out the garage with a leaf blower. I've done a lot of work in the past 6 months and still love the floor and I see no spots where I wish there was more material. I've touched up a few areas outside the garage door where I had a little delamination. Easy to do and no one would know I touched up. Color has stayed uniform at the inside/outside garage door boundary. Very happy. Will try to update my thread with some after pictures soon (looks the same:)).

I worked in squares that were defined by the joints in the concrete - something like 12x12. Dumped SPGX out of the can onto the floor and quickly distributed heavily with the roller. Then went back with a brush and touched up the joints and cut in edges the next day. Total time to install was <1.5 hours for 950 sq ft.

If your still active here - how has it held up almost a decade later? Would love to avoid etching my new garage if possible. It will be light usage.
