I prefer the racks for their portability (my 1023 box rarely moves). Sometimes I'll need more than one wrench or I might not know the size I need so I just grab a rack and go.

I went out and tried a rack in my small drawer (the one with my screwdrivers) and it clears easy. My wrenches in that rack go up to 22mm.

Thanks for the link and tips!

I see they only have a reversed 12pc rack... so I think you're probably right, Fedwrench.. the rails may work better in my case (capturing all loose wrenches).

my wrench rack holds 21 wrenches; it's basically two slotted foam rails that have no support of their own, but when you load them up with wrenches, they form the ribs to the rack's "backbone". I'm too lazy to post a pic, but I'll try to find the product I'm talking about. I want to say I got them from sears. I bought a boatload about 15 years ago and have cut them down to various sizes to hold different quantities of wrenches.

bump... do the magnetic wrench rails hold good in a drawer with a liner, or is it better to get the rails with the two sided tape?

I'm Sorry CD360, I some how missed your original question :(.

I use the racks without the tape or magnet, I've never had any problems with them moving. The weight of the wrenches alone should be enough to keep the racks put when on top of a liner.

The magnetic rails wok pretty well with thin liners and the waffle type liners. However they do not work at all with the liners I use (which are 1/4in thick yoga mats.)

I use both wrench racks and wrench rails. I personally prefer the rails, but as mentioned the ability to take a whole rack with you is convenient.

BTW, I have fit my 34mm and 36mm Snap On wrenches in a 2" high drawer.

I purchased the Ernst trays, they swallowed up a lot of room in the drawer. Two sets of regular length combo wrenches, a set of Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches, a set of Gearwrench X long, a set of short Gearwrench, a set of box end wrenches, a set of flared nut wrenches, and a set of shorty box end wrenches each in their own racks would not fit in the 53 x 24 drawer.

I purchased the Wrench Boss pictured above and put four sets in the slots of it and now have an orderly looking drawer and can pull wrenches out without having to move others out of the way.

don't they still make the "wrenchrac" i think is what they call it?

i got a pink one from mac tools and a black one from snapon. cornwell sells a make your own wrench rack that you cut it to your size.

i loved the exotic colors of the wrench racks over the years from snapon and mac.

does sk make the same one basically or is it pretty different?
