I have the 50' reel from HF and the reel works fine. I also have a 25' reel and it is on the small side, but works fine at the back of the garage. The hose that came on the 50' reel worked fine until it got left outside for a week. Then it became brittle and started cracking. Not long after that, it burst. I had a 50' Goodyear rubber hose that I put on the reel at that time and it's been great since.

I have plenty on hose for the compressor, but I would like to get a reel for it. Most of what I am seeing comes with more hose. I just need the reel. Anyone have a suggestion for a decent reel without breaking the bank?

I am leaning towards this one...lol, but am worried about leaks.

I had that one and soon upgraded to the one Vette mentioned. I wish I would have skipped the manual one. Yes, it's way better than handling your hose with no reel, but you'll get tired of it quick. If it's not mounted to something very sturdy with over sized hardware it will shake as you reel it up, and eventually work itself loose.
The 50' self retracting is one has served me quite well. Like many things, it's the only self retracting reel I've owned so I can't speak objectively, but I've seen it well spoken of by members more used to higher priced equipment.

I recently acquired an Eley rapid reel hose reel from work that was meant to be used with a water hose. I got an adapter to go from hose bibb to ips and it has worked perfectly. The water fittings were rated at 250 psi, which is more than the 90psi coming out of my compressor. I also have some of those cheap orange extension cord reels they sell at Walmart for $10. I roll my small 1/4" and 3/8" hoses up on them, while the 1/2" hose stays on the Rapid Reel. You can convert something like this to use with air and will be stronger than than a cheapo air hose reel. The important part is utilizing the internal swivel joint. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/182068255768?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
