Snap On Recall

I just saw on the news that Sams Club is recalling the "Snap On" ratchet straps they sale. I wish, (and know they won't), that Snap ON would take their name off of that stuff. But, they want people to see their name more and more.

I thought it would be funny if someone had some of those. Saw the Snap On truck, and went on it and said something like this. "I bought these ratchet straps at Sams, saw there is a recall, saw your truck sitting here, and thought I would return them to you to save me a trip to Sams"

S-O is probably the only company decent enough to issue a recall on something like that. A good company doing the right thing.

Yeah, Snap ON is a great company. I have about $80,000 worth of tools and equipment I have bought from them.

I just do not know how deeply they are involved in products such as these, or if they just supplied their name.

I made a mistake in titling this thread, Sams Club is actually the one recalling the ratchet straps. I am sorry if I worded it wrong. This is the first thread I have ever started in my life, anywhere. I saw the short news piece again before I left to come to the shop, and saw it was Sams.

And honestly, they seem a like good set of ratchet straps. I wasnt fooled thinking they are Snap-On quality, but I did do comparison shopping and they were a good deal.

I hope it was investigated and proven to be bad. Not that the incident was because some bozo used it to beyond its design.

Presumably that incident called attention to a design deficiency. It's not unusual for a recall to be issued before any incidents are reported.

Perhaps snap on is on their *** because they are protecting their name?

one of those thin straps and a "heavy load" was let loose on a pick up. That says it all...where is this person so we can line up and throw rocks at them? If you're gonna haul a heavy load strap it in better, there is a reason cops can issue a ticket for failure to secure load.

Also, 129,000 units! No wonder S-O wants a few badged products on the shelves there, holy ****.

If they're recalling this over one single failure, why are the straps sold at many dollar stores and other discount places still being sold?
I've tried them and had the mechanism fail before I even got them snug. Surely some have failed on the road and caused lost loads.

Not exactly what happened.... A big dude was using them for suspenders; and when He leaned over the tailgate to grab a tire He was returning to Wal-Mart, the Ex-lax kicked in and overloaded His britches..... Those straps didn't stand a chance; that load instantly covered three parking stalls..

Interesting. AllTrade used to be everywhere but I thought they had gone away. Right in my back yard. They have 5 pages of "Snap-on" tools.
