Hey that fan looks great. The one I just picked works great.

Of all the other discontinued C3 tools I think the last one I want is the buffer. The buffer looks like it could be pretty handy.

Yours looks like new, dude. Quite jealous. Yeah, I'd like to get my hands on a buffer, too, though I'll probably end up getting a corded model before I finally find a C3 version. I think those are rarer than the fans.

I have the buffer...only used a few times, I'd sell it if you're interested.

I got a buffer. Perhaps coleman10 or another member is interested.

FYI, replacement foam pads, as well as application pads and polishing pads are still available on searsparts.com

Are they a proprietary pad or can any make pad be used with it?

Prolly same as the Ryobi. If your local HD stocks them you can just test one out.

The buffer itself has a foam pad that is replaceable.

And there are two bonnets that can be used on the foam pad: an applicator bonnet and the polishing bonnet.

All three are on sears parts dot com for IIRCC like $3.99/each.

There was a buffer on eBay last week. Missed it by 3 bucks. Argh! I'm going to end up getting a corded model.

The lack of new models is concerning. More neon green tools and accessories keep coming out and the C3 line seems to be dying off.

Anyone notice that the 4-1/2inch angle grinder is no longer available other than the combo deal with the previous generation torque wrench? I've been trying to pick on up for months but there's none available even for shipping.

I finally found my multi-tool...sweet !!

If anyone needs or wants, there are two C3 blowers for sale close by where I work. They aren't brand new, more like open box items. I don't know the cost off the top of my head, but if you are interested send me an email bpj71 @ yahoo.com

I wish i had known that a 19.2brushless drill was available comparible to my older super professional1/2 hammer drill.i had basically retired it because both batteries were bad and i had got a h i l t i.for partial payment on some work.i dont use drills that often but when i do its on metal.one day drilling this job my drill broke so i had none.i hastily went to the hardware/lumber co. Where most contractors go and bought a milwaukee.not that its a bad drill but i didnt research models or what not and got a nice brushless, compact, steel chuck drill.but 1.5 batteries ugh! Anyway i may give to my son but long story shorter i took both my 18 v batteries had rebuilt w/1 year warranty for 30 each.my craftsman pro works awesome again powerful steel chuck batteries last a long time.so i wouldnt hesitate to get the c3kit for that price.i have a hometown sears here but i didnt think to go there because in have tool acct at other store.

Really? It's available at just about every Sears in my area plus online. Maybe it was just out of stock. The price ends in 99 so it's not slated to be discontinued.

Just picked up the hammer drill. Has great ratings online. Moving to a new house and I'll be drilling lots of holes in concrete in the coming months, so I see a lot of use for this. I just lost the variable speed on my regular 1/2" drill, unfortunately. The drill doesn't turn on until I pull the trigger back all the way. Just out of the warranty period. I'll probably use the hammer drill as the all around drill, too, and keep the older one around just in case.

I just found it at my local sears!!!! Apparently the one I was referring to was a slightly older model and the newer model has a different color scheme.

Awesome. Glad you were able to locate one. Let us know how you like it.

I used my hammer drill over the weekend. Wow. So much better than using a conventional drill. It went through cinder block like butter. Lots of power. Wish I had bought one years ago.

I know, I've been eyeing up the makita line myself. A small battery powered coffee pot for the garage sounds awesome

The lack of C3 line expansion is definitely concerning and I wouldn't mind the ryobi line, but as I've stated before in this and other threads, I just can't do the green. If they had stuck with blue, I'd be okay with it. In the meantime, I'm staying true to Craftsman. The basics is all I really need. I have most of what I need to maintain and enhance the homestead and am building up more additional craftsman tools and storage. My dad was big on Craftsman and I'll keep that going.

I will say, however, that the ryobi misting fan is almost enough to make me open my wallet. Cool idea. Maybe I'll get it and get some krylon and paint over the green.

I just picked up a C3 blower and string trimmer kit at Ace Hardware on Black Friday for $105. I was mad that Sears discontinued the trimmer, but glad I found it for a pretty reasonable price. I didn't need the blower, but it might come in handy. If anybody else really wants one of these, I'd be willing to go pick one up and ship it to you for my cost.

I'm eyeing the hedge trimmer and miter saw on Ebay right now. I don't know why I'm expanding my collection when I think Sears isn't going to expand the lineup, but I don't want to switch to Ryobi and I'm too invested in this now anyway.

I see they did away with the multi-tool, yet again.

I love the blower, very handy for cleaning up the shop or light/medium use on the driveway. With a full size Li-Ion battery it will run for a good 15-20 minutes.

Maybe a new level of popularity for C3 now that apparently generic batteries are showing up cheap.

For those too lazy to click, they are made in China, shipped from USA, claim to be 3Ahr 3000 mahr, NiCad with some protection chip and claim no memory effects. Shipped cost looks like $15 to $20 and the one I looked at I think was a 30 day satisfaction warranty.

They say, compatible with Craftsman C3 1135 and various other numbers, so guessing the patent ran out, same as it has for B&D VersaPak.

$20 for a Ni-Cd battery of unknown quality doesn't seem like a great deal to me when you can buy lithium packs right from Sears for $30-40 (or less).

Every time I think about getting that tool they've discontinued that or been sold out. Now I see you can buy it in a 5-pc tool set for $250+ but they won't sell just the multi-tool. It's starting to piss me off to the point where I might sell all my C3 stuff and just get the few tools I actually use from Milwaukee or Makita.

If I do sell, I've got about 20 different C3 tools if anyone in the NY area is interested.

I'd be interested if you will ship, depending on what you have of course. PM me

That would be the rub, especially as the Craftsman branded nicads never lasted me the full 1 yr warranty.

OTOH nicad cells have improved a LOT in the last few years to compete with Lithium at the low end of the price range. Also with Lithium you need a new universal chemistry charger as well as the new battery.

If the generic packs turn out to be very good, which is possible, then $20 shipped is new life for the C3 series.

The draw back of the C3 is the battery size compared to the newer stuff. It was my first grouping of power tools. My C3 1/2, 3/8 and drill are now are used for off-road use as I now own Milwaukee tools.

I have a good collection of C3 tools. I also have a much larger collection of Milwaukee m12 and m18 tools. I'm very happy with both platfoms, but I do notice that my Milwaukee batteries hold a charge for a much greater period of time while just being stored, and not in use. Seems every time I go to use one of my C3 tools, I have to charge a battery up first!

My C3 battery collection consists of 3 lithium compact and 2 lithium full size batteries. None are the XCP's. My m18 batteries are all 4.0 and 5.0 ah. Does anyone with both platforms know if the Craftsman XCP batteries will hold their charge similar to the M18's? I wouldn't mind investing in the XCP's if I knew for sure that it would solve the problem.
