I bought a brand new Snap On PRDR3000A last summer off eBay and the thing has air leaks out the forward/reverse switch and on the rubber grip at the top. I am thinking there is something Snap On should be able to do for me. What is the best way to go about it? Should I call them and tell them I bought this less than a year ago (it looks almost new, probably only used it 10-20 times) and if I can send it in for them to look at? I'm honestly hoping for a free fix except for shipping but maybe that's too much to ask.

They aren't. They come with a 90 day warranty or something when you buy them new. It maybe even less. I had mine done through the truck for 140. Think about how bad the air quality is at shops. They won't warranty that.

No way that's going to happen. You will have to pay to have it rebuilt.

Air tools and anything else that has a limited warranty (a set number of years) they WILL ask for proof of purchase if you want to warranty it. They won't accept your eBay receipt as proof of purchase as they will consider anything sold on eBay as used. Technically the warranty started the day the person you bought it from bought it, and you as the second owner are out of luck. They will happily rebuild it under their flat rate program for a fixed fee.

FREE? I doubt it, this is an item that is serialized somewhere. Even then they will likely ask you where you got it from.

It's sold as a blue point now I believe. Those things are tricky with no variable speed.

Email Snap On and get it repaired. The won't warranty stuff bought off Ebay though some truck drivers would as did mine. I bought a MG725 impact used from Ebay and told a truck driver that comes on base to service the motorpools and hangars. I asked him to overhaul it and charge me for parts and labor and shipping if needed to send it to Snap On Repair Center. He did it himself and only charged me for the parts. I bought several ratchets and socket sets from him. He's cool!

With that little use it's very unlikely something is actually wrong. Take it apart and see if there's a cut o ring or if something wasn't assembled right. Then next time buy a new IR.

I hear what ya'll are saying. I guess when I call Snap On direct they seem to bend over backwards so I was expecting some good treatment. I don't think a rebuild is necessary on something that was used 10-20 times in less than a year. If it was a few years old and well used I would pay whatever they ask for a rebuild because then it would seem warranted. I'm all about what's fair and right. I'll just call them and tell them what's going on and see what they say. In the meantime I'll just use my other air drill. I think Snap On does good on impacts & ratchets but the rest of it is ummm... marginal.

+1, sounds like a couple of damaged or failed o-rings to me. Should be a cheap and easy fix.

Some drivers wont warranty anything unless bought from him, like my driver.

Its actually a Sioux, I have the impact cousin of it.

It is, and when I previously called Snap On to find out what kind of grease to use for the planetary gears, they asked if they could call me back so they could call Sioux. Snap On owns Sioux so it was no surprise...

When I was over at St. Vinny's yesterday I picked up a pair of old shoes for 50 cents, but the uppers are starting to come undone from the soles. They have a "Nordstrom" label inside the tongue.
Wonder if I can take them back to Nordstrom and get a new pair?
Whaddaya think???

If they are lightly worn as if it happened the first few times they are worn then I'd expect any brand that cares about quality to repair them. The free advertising in the form of good will is worth the cost of a pair of new shoes.

Honestly you should start a new thread. It's Nordstrom so obviously yes you can take them back and get a new pair.
Now back to the original post:

Just some correction for this thread. Cordless and pneumatics always have a warranty regardless of how many owners. Without a receipt they go off the production date which is in the serial number so if it was built within the 1 year warranty period they will fix it no questions asked. For the drill the manufacture year will be the first two digits, next set will be day in the year. If it starts with a 16 you're covered, if its 15xxx it would need to be higher than 15150. If its under that or it starts with a 14 or 13 you're out of luck.
