Need some help deciding

I recently purchased a Proto 26pc wrench set (7mm-30mm, 32, 36mm) and all was well until the other day while picking up a few Gray ratchets from a Kijiji listing, I was offered an used Gray 19pc wrench set (9-10mm, 12-13mm, 16mm, 18-19mm, 21-30mm, 32, 36mm) at a price I could not refuse.

Well the dilemma I face now is which set do I keep? I got a deal on both sets and with the price I payed for the Gray set, I can purchase the seven wrenches (7, 8, 11, 14-15, 17, 20mm) needed to fill in the set and thereby bring both sets on par in terms of piece count and cost (& warranty).

Proto. No better made wrenches exist and easier warranty. Plus you already have the complete set.

If it was me I would go with the Proto. I like the feel better is all it comes down to. So you should decide which wrench you enjoy using more.

The Gray set is missing some important sizes. Stick with the Proto.

Being far from Canada but not Canadians, I haven't seen many Gray tools. However, Proto is well made and the ones in the picture have the antislip open ends. However, it's up to you as to which wrench feels better and has the best fit, balance, finish etc. Why not keep both and try to find the missing Gray sizes?

I'm in the keep both camp. I've needed more then one wrench in a size too many times for too many reasons.

It's give and take between the two sets. The Grays have a heavier/solid feel & a better finish (almost too pretty to use), although, I like the Proto design and the satin finish better. Also, some of the Proto open ends have burring/tearing from the shearing/manufacturing process.

I'd like to sell one of the sets to help finance the purchase of a complete SAE set.

I would keep both I have a set of each and a few times I needed both.

Keep both but if you absolutely can't then stick with the Proto set. Its already complete set so less hassle.

Either set is great though so you probably won't make a poor choice either way.

I don't like that "ramp" on the Gray wrench leading to the box end. The Proto wrench is WAY better looking IMO.

If your in Canada the Grays are easier to warranty,though I doubt you will ever have to.Personally I'd rather have the Grays,most of the guys here telling you to keep the Protos have never held or seen a Gray in person.

Ive owned Gray ratchets. Was less tham impressed though I have not held their wrenches.
