3bay: maybe because it was under $50. yes? very cool looking old 100+- year old vise. yes? in decent shape, but might be missing the swivel base. yes?

not sure which maker made it because several made those rounded off slides, but maybe the Diamond shape on the dynamic has a letter or some writing on it.

nice find

Yes. :lol_hitti

No markings or numbers that I can see Drives.

I'm guessing a rebranded Littlestown (or Littco) vise. The diamond in the cast of the moving jaw body is the reason for my guess.

Okay Mark that gives me a starting point to look.

I agree with this. I'm not an expert on vises like many on here but I have 3 Littlestown vises all with that diamond on them. I think one is even called "Red Diamond"

I'm not very good with vises.

Looks like most Littlestown have the raised diamond outline, but this diamond is raised and smooth across the surface if that makes sense. The shape is quite different with no anvil back like they normally have.

The jaws are 2-1/4" also.

Cool vise, I'd be more surprised if that vise came with a swivel base than if it didn't. Is the center hole threaded? 2 bolts to mount a vise of that size is plenty adequate.

3Bay: post up those pictures on the main vise thread and maybe somebody knows there. i'm betting it originally had a swivel base and that hole was for a pin in the middle and not a threaded bolt to go through a bench like some of the older swivels had.

it was worth the money and especially since the jaws are less than 3 inches wide because the smaller vises are in almost as much of a demand as the HUGE ones.

Well I didn't think so, but after cleaning out the gunk it actually is a threaded hole.

Drives I might do that and post it there. I agree, the hole seems way small for a through the table vise.

Cool little vise you have there!
Like Drives said, post pics over on the main vise thread and I'm sure you will get more replies. If you decide you don't like it, make that fact known and somebody will "solve your problem" for you. :)

This one is a table mount, looks like the base and holes are covered with repair weld or some metal added maybe?

Then this old ad looks like one in the upper left corner.

All I looked at are larger vises and they have that Keystone logo though :dunno:.

3bay: I think Athol made a few vises like that too. Erie comes to mind also. that style is old enough to probably have had the bolt thru the base and a big wing nut under the bench for a swivel, but your hole in the middle of yours isn't big enough and probably not threaded.

I like the Littlestown vise company so far as the maker, but like I mentioned there were several makers that made that design back in the early 1900's.

keep searching and I dare you to find some of the stuff on that huge vise thread that VA seems to find quickly. of course he or another member might actually own your vise's close relative.
