One more thing I forgot to add. The wife power washed the 2 planter boxes I made several years ago. She said they weren't up to standards for the new house. I have to say they almost look as good after she got done as the day I built them.

Side note: This was the infamous project where my middle finger had a little encounter with the dado blade and lost. I feel really luck my finger nail and finger grew back to normal with no damage. The one and only time I have cut myself on the tablesaw. I never will forget it. It crosses my mind every time I am using a saw now.

I almost finished building the doors for the shed today. I made the frames a couple of days ago. Today I cut the 4x8 sheet of John Hardie cement board in half and skinned the doors with it. Then I cut and screwed Hardie trim boards to it. Installed the latch and bam she is all sealed up now. Still need to trim around the door and run the diagonal trims in each panel.

Man these suckers are heavy. I am glad I sprung for some heavy duty ball bearing hinges that are sealed.

Both doors hung and starting trim. The right side door overlaps the other door 1 3/4. I also overlapped at the top and the bottom by 1 1/4". There is a 1/2" gap above and below the doors for rubber seals to go. I will also run some foam rubber between the door frame and outside edges of the doors. I want to seal it up as tight as possible to keep bugs out. I know they will still get in but I'm going to make it as hard as possible for them.

Have an extra day off this week. Hoping to finish hanging all the OSB on the inside of the shed so I can get it painted and start moving stuff in. After we get through all the rain storms we are having (if that ever happens) will start hanging the siding and get the outside painted.

So on top of all the projects I have going on I took on a little side project for a truck buddy of mine who lives in Nebraska. Met him on the truck forum and we struck up a good friendship. He is currently building up a 66' swb Chevy. He was looking for an aluminum gauge bezel to fit in the factory dash. I told him I could probably make him one so here I am.

He sent me all the gauges plus his gauge housing and some other truck parts he took off of his that I will be putting on mine. His whole park break setup which I didn't have anything for mine but the handle on the inside. So this was great for me as you can't buy most of this stuff.

Box of goodies. He went with 3 3/4" gauges and 2 1/16" as this is the biggest speedo and tach you can fit in the factory housing.

1/2" MDF trial run. I am short the volt gauge as he was having a custom one made and hadn't received it when he sent me everything else.

My plan was to make this MDF template exact and then drill undersize holes on the aluminum sheet double stick it to this template and then route it to size on the router. After cutting the holes with my 2 closest holesaws I realized I didn't need to do this I could just finish sanding the holes to the correct size on my OSS.

As you can see from the photo I got the center gauges a little too close together and the right one got off a little.

So I scrapped the template idea and just went for it. I laid out everything on the aluminum and started by drilling some 1/8" pilot holes so the holesaws wouldn't jump out of position.

Success they are within 1/64th of being perfect. Close enough for me. Quick mockup I took to tease my buddy with.

Thanks Dennis. Yes there will be 2 move dates. One for all the stuff in the garage and one for what's left out in the big garage plus bringing Jaybird home on a car hauler.

I got the wiring on the Air compressor wired today and the hose reel and regulator installed. Didn't feel like shutting off the power to the house today so will hookup the sub panel end tomorrow while the boys are at school.

I pulled the wire I had hooked up at the big garage. It was a "FOOT SHORT". So I installed a box and bought a couple more feet at Lowe's. While I was there I bought some plastic tubing to run it in. It almost matches the compressor.

Next I made this piece of plywood to mount the HF regulator on. It has a flange on the back that makes it stand out from the wall and since it only has one screw it likes to flop around even when you try to tighten. So I cut a rabbet on the top of the plywood for this flange to sit in to make it more stable.

Very happy with how everything laid out. Still have to run a hard line from the compressor up to the regulator. And for the time being the yellow hose will work to feed the reel but plan on replacing this as well. I am also going to run some drops around the shop. One above my woodworking bench and one in the Auto side of the garage. Can't decide on running black pipe or buying the Rapid Air kit. I see Lowe's has a cheaper version but it has mixed reviews.

I debated copper vs the rapidair maxline kit. I preferred the maxline over the standard kit as the lines were actually pretty rigid so it looks much cleaner. I ended up going with copper (still haven't finished my setup), as sweating joints aren't hard, and copper dissipates heat the best and corrodes the least (in comparison to black pipe).

Thanks Shorty. I havr been using it for almost 3 years and it works great. I do alot of sandblasting and never had any water issues. It is a heavy sucker.

Also got the ceiling in the shed painted this evening. Used up a whole gallon of paint and still thirsty. Will get 2 more gallons in the morning. Put another coat on the ceiling and get the walls done tomorrow. Paint the floor on Thursday and hopefully start moving stuff in on Friday and start getting everything setup in there this weekend. Should be able to bring Jaybird home by the end of this month or in early June. Can't wait.

So I got a second coat of paint on the ceiling of the shed and 2 coats on the walls today. Took some pics but they are pretty boring. The OSB is both thirsty and very hard to cover 100% since it so rough. I did the best I could and happy with the results. I think it would take 4-5 coats to cover completely and I just don't have the patience for that. Plus just about all the walls are going to be covered in pegboard, wall cabinets, and benches so you won't hardly see any of it anyways. I just had to seal it in and make it brighter.

I am going to trim the windows and the door out with some aromatic Cedar I have on hand. Will leave it natural and put some poly on it.

Tomorrow morning going to put the first coat on the floor. Hope to get a second on later in the day. My OCD got the best of me I sanded the entire floor with my Orbital sander and some 80 grit. When it got rained on before I got the roof on a lot of the grain had raised up. Plus I tracked in a lot of mud near the door way. I was afraid the paint wouldn't stick well if I didn't sand or clean it. Now it is clean and nice an smooth. So hopefully the paint will stick well and last for awhile.

Well after 5 days of moving stuff in and organizing and building some shelving and a new workbench for the shed here is where I stand.

Still have a lot to do. But garage is clean and Jaybird can finally come home.

Still need to build above the garage ladder storage. And find a place for the bookcase behind the ladders. Also put away all the scrap sheet goods and lumber in front of toolbox.

I also bought 2 more 10" pneumatic tires to replace the hard ones on my big fan. Should make it easier to tote it back in forth as well.

I have a hand truck similar to yours and I use it all the time to move heavy stuff from the garage to the shed and for playing musical potted plants with my wife. I also have a couple of light-duty (150 lb) folding hand trucks in the garage. Costco had them on sale for around $20 and I bought one on a whim. It turned into my go-to tool, for taking the two recycling bins out to the curb or moving bags of fertilizer and potting soil from the car to the garage or gardening bench.

Because it takes up so little space when it's folded up, I can stash it out of the way in spots that are otherwise wasted, like right next to the compressor:

I ended up buying another one when the first one was getting hard to unfold (a little fiddling and 3-in-one oil fixed it). My 71-year-old back thanks me every time I use them.

Thank you bob. I got the idea for a dolly or wagon of some sort to move stuff back in forth when I first saw you pathway you posted. Now I need to build a pathway. I found some wagon hardware online for building your own wooden wagon so that has been added to my list now.

Yesterday I worked on a bunch of little projects that needed to be done for awhile and had started to bug me.

I love using powerstrips in work areas but they are a pain to mount. So a lightbulb went off. I made these plywood strips to mount them to and then they can be mounted were ever. I got the idea from some heavy duty workshop powerstrips I have on the woodshop side. I mounted one on each side of the pegboard.

Basically cut a piece of plywood 3" longer than the strips and then drilled and mounted the screws in the proper locations.

Rounded the corners, drilled all the holes, and run it through the router with an 1/8" round over bit to smooth the edges.

Finished mounting the under cabinet lights. I bought these about 4 years ago for $4 each on clearance. They are 15 watt T5's. Still need to finish the left side of the pegboard. I'm thinking about moving the small toolbox to the shed. It has spares in it that I don't use.
