The wife and I are closing on our 2nd home June 29th! Finally getting out of the city and on a little piece of land! This place has a 3 car attached and a 26x30 detached with 10ft. Finished ceiling. I would love to ad a lift but a couple people told me I don't have enough room. I understand I wouldn't be able to walk under my Tahoe but I believe I could walk under the Vette.

Anyways who all has a lift with 10ft. Ceilings? What lift did you go with, are you happy with it and of course can you post pictures? Thanks

Give us a few details of what is above the finished ceiling. Trusses or conventional framing. Depending on what is there you may be able to make some modifications

House was built in 1992 and I believe the garage was built at the same time. I'm assuming trusses but haven't been up there to look. I don't think I'll be back to the property until I own it June 29th.

This is the way I would look at it. You have the house and garage. Garage at this point wont provide ideal conditions by going up all the way. If you cannot modify the ceiling you can still put a lift in, but you just need to know what you can and cannot do.

Lift the Tahoe up a few feet to be able to change tires, do brakes, oil changes and be able to roll around under the truck while on a small stool. Better than ramps or jacking and putting stands under the vehicle.

Da Vette go up even higher. Enough so that you may be able to walk under. I would set up a couple of limit switches to protect the car.

Most important is the concrete floor suitable (recommend min thickness of 4in and 3000-3500PSI) for a lift if getting a 2 post. A 2 post floor plate style will fit.

Define "10' ceilings". If it's conventionally stick framed, more than likely, they went with 10' studs. If it was framed on a slab, then it should have a sole plate (PT), and a double top plate. This results in a 10'-3" +/- finish ceiling height. Most baseplate lifts are built to 119", to accomodate garages with low ceilings. I have a Challenger 7000 baseplate lift and can raise my corvette up high enough to walk under (I'm 6'-0"). I sometimes have to tilt my head. However, light placement is important. I should have placed them better. I could get another 3-4" of lift height if I didn't place the light fixture directly where the roof of the car is.

Thanks for all the replies and pictures guys it helps a lot! I am 5'9" so that will help with getting underneath the vehicles. Looking at the couple pictures posted here it looks like a lift will definitely be useful even just for doing brakes etc...

As far as 10ft. ceilings I have not ran a tape measure up the wall to see exactly what I will have but they are roughly 10ft. But if you can walk under your Corvette at 6ft. tall I should have no problem!

I really need to get in there and take some measurements but I'm not sure if we are really suppose to go knock on the door and introduce myself that I'm the future buyer or if I set up another showing with my realtor to get in and take measurements. either way I have plenty to do with packing and getting ready for the move so I can wait a month until I get in there. I just happened to find a Bendpack local for a good price and its 113" which should work perfect...

what type of lift. I have 10.5 ceilings and with my Bendpak scissor lift can get everything up enough to do most of what I need to. You mentioned brakes. I have done them on two of my vehicles and the first lock and my roller stool are a perfect combination for this.

Looks good! I do want to go with a 2 post lift in my garage. I'll be doing a little more than just brakes but I am not a professional mechanic.

I'm digging the CRX. I'm assuming it's an Si. I had a red'86 just like it(minus all the stickers). But that was nearly 20 years ago. I loved that car.

Thanks, yes its a 1986 SI. This one has the stock EW 1.5L dropped and a 170hp 1.6L B16 installed in it. Still street legal and feels like a go cart! LOL

Does anyone have any experience with Eagle Equipment Lifts? I've just been searching around online when I have some free time and came across these which seem to be set at a great price! Which also makes me wonder about their quality...

https://www.eagleequip.com/product/MTP-9F.html

Anybody have any experience by chance with Eagle? The $1399 is very appealing! I spoke with Bendpak today and theirs is $3000. What could possibly be the difference to justify spending more than double?

I imagine its a lot like the Atlas - generic Chinese lift. I have this one, 5yrs old. The motor is weak and the cables have a few strands broken, but it works well enough. GSE wasn't able to diagnose the motor problem, its been present since 6mo in or so. Light hobby use.

I would buy it again, for what it's worth, but if I had the money for it I would have bought a Rotary or Bendpak.

Make your realtor take the measurements for you. That's what I did. I figured they need to work harder for their commission, haha.

I'm sure the Eagle will be fine enough honestly. A review would be good though.

Post 6 talks about a lift over a decade old, so it could be apples to pineapples. Post 13 is the OP saying he is happy with the Eagle 6mo later. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/shop-tools/871828-anyone-have-eagle-2-post-lift.html

You'd trust a realtor with a tape measure, that's funny. Bring your own!

Thanks for the link! Looks like those guys are pretty happy with the eagle. It seems like to good of a price to pass up! Haha

Ill be in my new house in 2 weeks and will start taking measurements. If I don't hear some horrors stories about them I'll be ordering one soon!
