Extensions make poor pry bars. Don't ask how I know this. But I counted it as a sacrifice to the tool gods to get the job done.

chadster1, can you tell us the "stories" behind the pics shown and how you resolved or warranted the tools? I would also like to hear your take on warranties, how it affects your cash flow, bottom line etc. Also, wondering if you are more or less willing to warranty something based on how "good" or type of a customer they are (e.g. route/shop customer, someone off the street, someone who works from home etc.).... I also would like to get a sense from you about your experience has been interfacing with Snap-On corporate. When returning the broken tools; what if any warranted replacement tools they have refused to give you credit for? This is a ongoing issue for most of us and it would be of interest to shed some light on the situation; from your perspective and Snap-On corporate! Thanks!

All of those tools have obvious manufacturer defects.:wtf:

If you can't run over a hammer with a truck or drop one in hydrochloric acid and still use it, what is the point? lol

I don't see how the air tools get broken with abuse, like how the handle broke off

The one air gun that is apart and the ratchet don't look abused. I have had that happen to me before. Also had that happen with a die grinder. End caps loosen up and the gearbox chews everything all up.

The Snap On guy we had was a complete POS and would make up any excuse for denying warranty.

We had an air ratchet do what the prior air ratchet did (break in half). It happened the second day we had it and it have never been dropped when we had it. I have no idea about the delivery people though.

You could see where it had finished breaking, as it was shiny, compared to where a crack had been.

By this, that wouldn't have been warrantied, Things aren't always what they seem.

Both impacts were covered under warranty by the Snap-on repair center. The air ratchet was not because the tool was older than the one year warranty that comes with new air tools.

Did it used to be 2 years? I haven't worked in the tool room for about a year now but we had 2 year on all power tools for the Snap On stuff. (Air tools, electric, cordless.)

I have been a dealer for 6 years. It has always been a 1 year warranty on all power tools with the exception on the XT7100, MG725, MG31 and MG325.

Dang I was hoping you had been a dealer longer. I'm trying to find a repair kit for a F713 QD. (quick disconnect) Mine has a broken tooth on the gear.

It's amazing what some people do to tools. I have an MG31 that cracked the front of the housing like the one in the bottom left of the first post. I had not dropped or thrown it. I think the mag housing just can't stand up to the shockload of the impact over a long period of time. I know another guy that has had this happen to his as well. Mine is over 3 years old so it wasn't under warranty anymore. I did send it off to get rebuilt and Snapon replaced the housing which I was very happy with.

My 24" Craftsman prybar didn't quite hold up to me bouncing on it.

What do you mean, abused?

This is what ALL the tools at my local Mexi-market look like. But you can usually get them at 80-90% of new, so it's worth it.

Nobody mentioned the extension; you gotta be a major knucklehead to do that to an extension.

I can't understand abusing tools; that's like abusing a beautiful woman.

Must be something under Snap On Industrial or maybe just a dealer thing. I know for sure it was 2 years.

I am surprised that bent! Every time I put some serious *** on those I am waiting for it to snap into several pieces

I know this bent but I would feel better about this then if it just suddenly snapped, causing more serious injury

Hey chad when you come up with something REALLY horrific, I'm talking deplorable abuse, I'd like to buy it and mount it on my wall.

I never kept any of the tools I wrecked, now I'm regretting it after joining the forum. :)

I once put an 8ft, yes 8 foot pipe over a a 3/8ths breaker bar with a socket and a 10in extension in between...the results were disastrous but it did get the head bolt out when I was a kid and had no other means of getting the job done.

A flea market I used to go to had a tool dealer who purchased a lot of worn out sockets he used a tapered pin and a 20 ton hydraulic press and cracked the sockets then got them warrantied.

All that does is increase the cost of tools for everyone.
