Shorty, what psi did you use. 3000?
Concrete comes up in over half of its strength in 14 days or so.
The anchors gripping the green concrete is my biggest concern.
It'll cure faster with spraying beer on it. Not recycled though.

Glad I could help and hope I did.

Yes a big help and I probably won't get to it until July. I have a couple trips plan and a lot of other things to work on,

Looks great Shorty. I'm sure your happy with it. And I'm sure your 56 yo body is feeling it. I know I'd be hurting if I did that now. But I still do things that I know I should hire someone else to do.

Ok, I have been reminded that I might be a little lax in posting. I was going to post the concrete worked last night but saw I already did that. I do stay busy looking at the worthy threads so don't spend much time on my own. Another reason is whereas the majority of you all have your shop/garage anywhere from 0 ft. to 300 ft. from your house, mine is 13,200 ft. (4023 m) from the house. By the time I walk there, its time to turn around and head home.

And so I can get my "post" count up, I thought I would share another quick post.

This one is at the turn around lane….by the shop. Sorry for the poor picture. :lol_hitti

In honor of Super Bob, and some prodding, I mean posting by others I thought I would share one of my summer trips.

The year was 2005, I had just turn 21, and finally had a nice road bike. This is my baby, a 99 Honda Valkyrie Interstate. All pleasure on the top, all business on the bottom.
:3gears:

After a few trips to Daytona and North Carolina, a two week trip was planned for Americade in NY and Laconia in New Hampshire. Our normal group consist of 5 but only me and one other could go on this trip. This picture is on the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Asheville, NC

Here is the general route we took to Lake George. Since we had ridden the Tally to NC several times, we rode 420 miles the first day and spent the night in Asheville.

It was June 5th when Ed and I headed out. I had a handheld GPS at work so first stop was there. I had to pull the seat to get the 12v plug out so I could use the bike power instead of batteries.

We're off on our great adventure. I don't think we were halfway to the state line when I wasn't feeling very comfortable on the bike. The throttle was really hard to turn and hold and the seat didn't feel right. The further we went the more I was hating it. We made it 70 miles and decided to take our first break and get gas. I told Ed what was going on and I felt like going back home because there was no way I would enjoy the trip.

A couple of days before the trip, I put a throttle lock on my bike. This was the first time messing with a bike throttle. Turns out I had the cables to tight. After few trials and errors at adjusting at the gas station, we had the cable adjusted correctly. Think Curly and Moe. Next was the seat. Turns out in my haste to hook up the GPS and get on the road, I didn't put the rear seat tab in its slot so the rear stuck up more than normal. Easy fix.

When we took off, I felt like I was on a totally different bike and was grinning from ear to ear. :thumb up:

Our last stop for the day was Asheville mainly because of rain.

I have to go, the wife needs a hammer. Stay tune.

The next day found us on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very beautiful drive, just don't be in a hurry. This part of the Parkway is a race bike's dream road. Our second day we only covered 120 miles due to the slow winding roads. We did make it to Virginia!

We had just turned off the Parkway when it started to rain and lucky for us the turn off went to a short tunnel under the Parkway. As minutes passed, the weather went from light rain, to pouring to hail. What started out as a few motorcycles, turned into wall to wall vehicles crammed in the tunnel. As we weathered the storm we heard what sounded like a train going overhead. We suspected that a tornado might have been close by due to the loud noise, tremendous wind and a trees being knocked over.

Here is the general route that we followed on our way north to Americade.

With good weather and straighter roads we were able to make better time. Here are some of the signs we passed the next two days.

The road construction was in NY. Boy, I would hate to live up there. We assumed that the ice caused all the road damage. We would have to dodge large chip outs and after hitting one hole, :wtf: the bracket for the GPS broke. We found a small hardware store and I MacGyvered it back together. Onward to Lake George!

We made it to Lake George. Very nice area. Wish we had more time there. At Daytona Bike week you see all types and brand of bikes. Here, 90% of the bikes were touring (dressers). The next day we walked the vendors and decided to head to Oh Canada! On the way we had to cross at Ticonderoga via the ferry. Ed had been to the fort a couple of years ago and now I wish I had stopped. We were winging it, so didn't know how many stops we could make in our two week adventure especially since rain tends to change your schedule. South of Burlington, we got a chance to make new friends.

When we arrived at the Canadian border, I stopped to take a picture of the Canada sign and the art deco Customs building. As a pulled up to the custom officer, a short, attractive young lady firmly told me to delete my pictures. She took our drivers licenses and told us to pull over to the parking lot. After a 45 min. wait, she strolls over like John Wayne and gives us our licenses back. Before you ask the GJ question, yes it would have be nice but no, I didn't. Our plan was to go to Montreal. We didn't realize that we were in Quebec and the only french I knew was OUI, fries and toast. We turned east and headed to where we could come back into the States at I-91.
Up until Canada, we only had one close call (in NC) with an inattentive driver. Well that changed because of a church. This church looked majestic and I pointed it out to Ed. We had radios. While he was looking, a curtain someone that pointed out the church decided to stop in the middle of the road and snap this picture. Next thing I know, I'm almost clipped on my right side and some harsh language coming from the radio. :shocking::mad: "Oops! Did I do that?"
I don't remember what the significance of the covered bridge was but it was photo worthy. :headscrat
This last picture made us southerns say WTF but we felt at home.

The US, yay! After a in year in Korea and the Philippines, you would think I would be more adventureous. We pulled up the to the US customs officer. I was a little nervous after our Canadian encounter. Don't know why since Ed was a deputy sheriff. The gate was pretty busy but the officer said turn the bikes off and chat awhile. After talking about our trip, we were on our way.
After passing by "Lyndon" VT, it started raining really bad and Ed loss his read lights so we stopped in Littleton, NH. This was like being back in the fifties or sixties. Cool old fashion Americana. Next day took us through the White Mountains. America the Beautiful.
We finally made it to Laconia. The road in was bumper to bumper and it was only Wednesday. Surprisingly it was very hot. :(. Thankfully the welcome committee was waiting on me, I mean us.

Yup, thanks for the trip you just let the rest of us take without having to put up with the rain and other mishaps along the way. I'm sure it's a great memory that will last you your lifetime.

Well done Stewart. I enjoy visiting different places and find there's reasons to like each and every one of them. We lived on Lake George for three summer vacations. There are 44 state owned islands with hundreds of campsites. Most sites come with a dock, tent platform and outhouse. Aside from needing a boat to get to the campsite, you need to stop at the closest ranger station to register and pick up a can of lime to make your outhouse smell better. We did this long before computers, video games and cell phones but I wonder how freaked out today's kids would be with no cell signal and no running water or flush toilets.

Great travel pics Shorty, thanks for sharing.

That's good reading Shorty, enjoyed it.

Thank you taking the time to read. After reading about Bob's great adventures, I thought I would post this one trip. As you will see, I'm a lot better with a camera than with verse.

Bob I'm with you on finding a reason to like places I visit (except Boston). While in the Air Force, it amazed me the view people had of places, then I end up there and think wow this is pretty nice area. Some just don't know who to get out and enjoy what God has given us.

In hindsight, I wished we had trailer the bikes up north so we could have spent a lot more time enjoying the lakes and mountains of upper state NY, NH and Vermont. I'm thankful I got to see what I did.

Not a whole lot to report. I've been doing some honey-do's and doing the honey. :bounce:

For my honey, I finished stage 2 of the pantry/laundry update. It's really for my sanity but she loves it. Added an upper shelf for bulk items and a place to hang clothes when they come out of the dryer.

Mom has a window that faces the afternoon sun and heats up her family room. She showed me a neighbors solution, so a little internet search, a trip to Home Depot and 30 minutes of my time, I'm now her favorite.

After not following the good instructions I received on finishing the inside pad, the surface was coarse. Craig (CBacres) recommended I get a rubbing stone to clean up the edges and the high spots. I was amazed how well it sanded the slop off the old concrete.
Instead of sweeping the dust up, I thought I would try out my new Dust Deputy. The thing worked just as advertised. I need to do some upgrades to the bucket but I think the Dust Deputy will be a big plus.
There's not much help for the field but with some elbow grease and the stone, the field does look somewhat better. Thank you Craig.

When the ADHD kicked in, I decided to look at my little HF jack. After some minor abuse, the main wheel was stuck. Pulling the axle out, I found the problem, a bur. A little file work and polishing with the Scotch-Brite EXL wheel, the axle was in serviceable shape. One project down. :)

After reading about a hand truck on another thread, I thought I would research my aluminum appliance hand truck. With help from the thread, I found Yeats hand trucks and sent them a picture to see if it was their brand. They replied yes, it was probably from the 50's. Who knew? :headscrat

Well, after the jack fix, I decided to pull the rotten thread belts off and ensure the screw came out that holds the appliance strap. All good! I need to take the time to order new belts, crank spring and strap. After 20 yrs, it will be nice to have it back in normal working order.

Rut-ro, off he goes to do something else.

While up in the loft area, I need to get stuff organized enough to walk around. Since moving the office out of the office, I have been thinking about a loft hang out, soooooo

As you can see the loft is somewhat a jumbled mess. After about an hour, I had an area staged how I would like the office/man cave laid out. It also free up a nice corner by the crane to put the stuff I'm trying to sell at swap meets, etc. When I get the priority projects out of the way, I will close in this proposed office area and crank up the ac in there.

Wow Shorty, nice update. I love it when you guys give me something to read when I stop by your threads.

From the pictures, it slab looks good. I really didn't notice the rough edges or high spots. But I'll take your word for it.

Nice man cave you've got there. Maybe someday I'll make a room that I can call my own. (for now I'll be happy in my shop)
