Hey today i went to pick up a Dewalt cabinet that was for a a Dewalt power shop saw. It was only $20 and i thought i could store some tools in in so it was a no brainier but when i got there i found out he has the original saw with it as well. He said did i want to buy it as well and of course i couldn't separate the original saw from the original cabinet. The saw runs perfect and looks almost brand new. He wanted a extra $40 for the saw which i could not say no too! Found this listing in 2014 that the same one sold for over $370 dollars. The man is also going to deliver it to me this Thursday to my house so i don't have pics yet so these are from the listing. Also the man is moving in a few months and is selling a lot of his tools. he has a whole garage full of vintage usa tools so it was really a good day for me.

Yes you got a good deal. The lack of interest may be due to the fact that there are fewer woodworkers and sliding miter saws have made the RAS all but obsolete. It's almost impossible to give them away. You found one of the better machines, so you might have a chance to flip it if you can find a dedicated woodworker that's in the market. It will take time and it will be difficult to get anything over $100 for it.

Unless you plan on keeping it and putting it to use. Well then, rock on.

Well i was only interested in the cabinet but for $40 more i couldn't leave the original saw. I don't know what i am going to do with it since i don't do wood work. But the machine runs perfect and the guy said it was very well taken care of. Plus buying this will give me first crack and all his tools he is selling in a few months. Looks like his prices are going to be very reasonable.

You got a good deal.

I've seen a few saws like yours for sale but nothing even close to the price range.

We use compound miter slide but I'd I see one even close to the price you paid I'll have one.

You know, you can think something is a good deal without ppl here stroking your ego. Of course it appears you buy just about anything you see that's old, even if you don't know what it is.

I don't share everything i buy. I share less then 20% of the tools i buy. This forum is about sharing your love of tools and the tools you pick up and if you got a problem with that you shouldn't be here.

Its cool looking but personally, I would have passed on the whole thing. To each his own though.

My dad still has that exact same saw - he bought it in the late 1960s brand new. As others have stated, they aren't used much any longer. My dad had an 8' wide 3/4" plywood table on his so he could rip full 4x8 sheets with it (that was fun/scary - more than once it kicked back like nobody's business, usually stalling the motor and blowing the basement circuit breaker leaving us standing there in the dark wondering what just happened).

I have a table saw, and three miter saws which accomplish the same thing. The miter saws I typically carry to where I am cutting lumber (front yard, back yard, driveway, friend's place, etc), which you can't easily do with the RAS.

The cool thing you can do with the saw is to mount a router bit on the rear of the motor and then make long horizontal grooves in panels. My dad did that when he made the kitchen cabinet doors with it.

My FIL has one and still uses it to this day and his is from the 50's and older than one you got. If you disregard all the hype about radial arms and use it safely the are good useful machines. IMO

Nice score. Interesting that it's branded DeWalt and Black & Decker both. You'd think it'd be one or the other. B&D bought DeWalt in 1960.

Sweet! You got the long hex and thin wrench for changing the blade. My dad's identical saw has all of this plus the Dewalt dado kit with a whole bunch of different knives. Oh, and I think he has the disc sander attachment for the back of the motor as well.

I have bought and sold a few of those. They are decent saws. The last one I got a couple of hundred for. You can't trim a 16" wide shelf board with any chop saw I know of. They are also great at dadoing shelf standards.
