Is the Craftsman 4PC pick and hook set worth buying?

Those are the new Chinese made ones. They cleared out of the usa professional ones about 6 months ago. I got a few sets for $6 and they were the last ones in the area.

I also purchased the USA made picks before they went bye bye. You can probably find some on eBay. I'm sure the Chinese versions would work just fine in most cases, but I wouldn't buy them just because they're not USA. I would recommend buying the smaller cushion grip hook and pick sets though. I have the 6" and 9-3/4" sets I bought on sale. They're rebranded by almost every tool brand - SK, Ullman, Armstrong, Matco, etc.

I'm fairly certain Mayhew did make the large pick sets for Cman, but unsure if they're still made in USA. If they are still USA I'd go with the Mayhew Dominators, but I'm thinking they aren't.

Those are the Taiwan made gearwrench clones. They are OK. The best was the USA MADE pros they clearanced out a while back. I have 2 sets

I've actually been meaning to post this for some time. I wonder why the USA hooks have these two scallops on the handle, but not all the way around. It's almost like they were made for right handled people only as a place for your thumb. My Cman pro screwdrivers have 4 scallops all the way around the handle though. I'm not positive those scallops are for thumb placement, but why would they only put two on one side?

Everyone seems to like the US cman sets but mine wouldn't keep their handles. I replaced them with a Tekton set that has been good to me so far.

If you want a USA-made set of picks my preference are the Pratt-Read picks. Affordable and good quality. Mine have held up great after several years:
