Good idea for these cabinets?

So in the last couple of weeks I picked up 2 sets of wall cabinets for fairly cheap.

First set was a white, plain old melamine cabinet thats about 5 feet wide, 2 high and 12" deep. No issue here, painted it black and just need to figure out to put this over the bench or back wall.

The second set of cabinets I got were these metal ones, their 3feet wide, 15" high by 16" deep... The doors slide up and over the top to open, basically defeating the storage on top of the cabinet as you wouldn't be able to open it with anything on there.

What I am unsure of is the depth of these is 16", they stay out a ton when on the wall. On top of that their basically just an open area inside, no shelves or anything. See the pics attached. I got 2 of these.

Not sure whether to keep these or what. The only place they can fit on is either above work bench or on the back wall. If I were to put them over the work bench I'd remove that pegboard and shelve already there - I just used that for the time being to see how it looks up in the air as a support.

What's your guy's thoughts?

I think that I would mount the metal cabinets one over the other. Leave a gap for the door to open.

Mount one over the other over the work bench? Thats gonna be like 9 feet tall lol.. I wouldn't even be able to reach up in there.

See the attached pictures of my garage, that is the back wall I am referring to. From where the drywall is missing (right side) and over where that hand crank winch is nothing can go there as that's where the hard top gets hoisted for the Jeep so it would interfere.

Could the be mounted up side down so things could still be set on top?

What about removing the doors altogether? I dunno, then they're pretty much just shelves...

You would need to lock it every single time you use it.

I'm actually looking at one of these cabinets in my office right now. They can hold a ton of weight!

If the door will still open properly mount them vertical and make your own shelf's to the height you need or make them adjustable.

Hmm this is a idea, I was thinking of adding some shelves but with being 15" high doesn't serve much shelve space if you go horizontal. But putting them vertical would create some useful space.

Nah defeats the purpose, I wanted cabinets strictly to close them off to prevent dust going everywhere.

Yah no the door swings open, would need to lock with latch, which one of the 2 cabinets actually has. The other one I'd need to lock actually.
