Unless lighting technology has really changed since I worked on HPS units I don't think you can just screw in a LED in a HPS fixture. The HPS light has a ballast in it. Bet you can get your lamp at Amazon or your local commercial lighting store. JMO

There are some LED bulbs that you can just screw in. We have seen 2 or three come through our shop. If you intend on going that way be very clear when you are ordering it that it will go in a fixture with an HPS ballast. That bulb will be special order and you won't be able to return it.

I had one and just removed the ballast and installed a LED bulb.

Exactly. If the bulb base is the same you can just rewire the fixture to remove the ballast. I did the same thing about six years ago, but with a big CFL.

I found a few of those and at $60+ I don't think I'm going to go that route. I may try and remove the ballast and put a regular LED bulb in like someone suggested. I have a 100w equivalent LED bulb laying here already.

If memory serves my one brain cell left, I think you may find a 70W HPS is a mogul base lamp. If so, you will have to replace the mogul base socket with a A-19 type medium base socket to accommodate your LED. No big deal though. JMO

It's a medium base socket so I'm good to go there.

FYI: A 100watt equiv LED will not give the light output as a 70 w HPS. If you find you don't have enough light maybe switch to the LED dusk to dawn I show in #5 reply above.

If that fixture had not been one of the worst brands out there (Utilitech) , it most likely would still be working as HPS is one of the longest lasting lamps, to give one example, the HPS wallpack above one of my garage doors has been going about 16 years, which is IMHO longer then most should last but who is complaining. :) The amber color leaves a bit to be desired but for outdoor light ing, even the monochromatic yellow color of LPS is just fine too.

70w HPS is around 6000 lumens. But they're crappy yellow lumens. White light from CFL's or LED's can make it "appear" brighter so you can usually get away with fewer lumens and still be satisfied. A large CFL in Ohio winters will take a while to burn up to full brightness. Maybe not a problem for you. Life of the CFL is less than the HPS that you had. An LED corn bulb of around 40 watts will give you about 4000 white lumens and cost you around $50. Life is twice as long as your HPS. Both the CFL and the LED will require you to bypass the ballast.
Good luck
