This is my vintage Snap-on Model # KR-23 circa 1937 - 1945. It belonged to my Dad and when he passed 5 years ago it became mine. Still used every day :)

I did do a restoration on it but not really because the paint was that bad but because my Dad drilled a few holes in the box and it had a few major dents that I wanted to take out. It was not really painted but it was professionally powder coated to the exact original Snap-on red/orange color. I drove them a little crazy at the powder coaters because I insisted on inspecting the custom made color before they did the box. They did such a great job matching the color that the draw dividers on the top pull out draw that are the original parts & color and did not get powder coated, match exactly. You can't even see any difference. If it weren't for the bad dents and holes I would have never restored it - but to me it's a moot point because I will NEVER sell it. After I am gone - who cares my kids are not into tools and will probably just sell it anyway.

I'll post a couple of mine shortly but until then, has anyone seen one of these? I bought it at the flea market for my son.

Yeah, there's lots of Marvel Comics hits, I used the image search for my450 metal toolbox to find the etsy link. Some variant of that picked up the flickr link.

https://www.google.ca/search?q=my45...hUS4mMKHdSbCAwQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=8Enw5to-QDqbqM:

According to Google Translate, the script reads Maberu, which translates to Marvell:

https://translate.google.ca/?ion=1&...1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&client=tw-ob#ja/en/マーベル

The Etsy photos say MARVEL under the M logo too.

I got these two Craftsman rolling tool chests, and two smaller Craftsman tool boxes. The white one is a mess, and has appliance paint covering everything. I'm working on the red and gray one now, and will start a thread to chart my progress. Thanks for letting me contribute. More to come, and I'll share some of the contents of the boxes.

Saw this at a garage sale this morning. $80 each. Learnt a valuable lesson - never go to a garage sale on a motorcycle.

I know which one I would keep. LOL. Just cause you don't have tools to store in them doesn't mean that they can't serve a purpose.

What is the middle stack?

Older Kennedy.

Just couple more drawers.

Honza, from a drawer configuration, and all other things being equal, I'd keep the middle older Kennedy stack (at least) despite the slightly harder to use handles. I've no use for the lower storage bins generally, and like the ability to move the shorter top half separate from the mid if needed.

That configuration on top is what I switched to after over filling the 10 drawer Craftsman on the right. (two strong men could not budge that box once full...)

My smaller top and 2 drawer mid happens to be the newer style you have on the left, but I have two of the older lower box in the middle; one in red and one in brown...

ps: I like to slide the top to the front of the roller: This does 2 things: It stops me from using the edge as a shelf, (flat surface syndrome) and I can store something else on that resulting back shelf, (I have 2 slide hammer boxes on one...)

Taumac, that setup is so sweet, I cant help but drool every time I see it. The only thing I would change is moving the vise to the side facing cabinet on the right.

Thanks man. Funny you should mention that vise location. Actually I had one there for a awhile. Problem was is that door is entry door to house and don't know how many people hit there elbow on it walking out the door. Of course I never did. LOL. No that I look at picture the POS Chinese vise was at that end and think closer to the door.

Thought I would throw this out, grabbed it today.
Might be for a machinists chest, or a Service Writers stand or what else ?
21" wide x 9.5" deep
But it is cool, and a solid piece of work, so it came home with me.
Nice work, doesnt seem shop made, but not ruling it out.

I was just cleaning the Craftsman. It's made in May 1970. I think there were still original liners, I might end up replacing them with new ones.

It depends on which ones you have. Call Waterloo, have one of the clips and a tape measure in your hand when you do. Ask them about replacement "black drawer clip thingys". They'll ask you to measure the length.

There are long ones and short ones, but I can't remember which one is discontinued. They'll let you know. You can get them from Sears, but you have to know the model number of your box, and ultimately it's easier and cheaper to go directly to Waterloo.

If I'm correct 1970 would have the newer clips in it while the older ones would have the Kennedy style clips.

It's the 1970 Craftsman. Looks like it's 2" long. I'll give them a call, hopefully they will be able to help.

I didn't mean to confuse you. I call them Kennedy clips cause the top pictured is a Kennedy machinist box clip and middle is off a pre 1970 box while bottom is off mine that are post 1970.

I also laid them in orientation they go in the side.

I am pretty sure I have the one on the bottom.

I have been randomly going through this thread, there's some really nice vintage toolboxes posted here, love them!
