I went back to the sale but the guys were gone and there was a lady there instead who is a welder. Her prices were crazy compaired to what deals the guys were doing for me. I left a lot of my pile there but they are having more sales next month so i will wait for the rest.

1. Matco 3 foot extension $5, blue point 15mm adjustable wrench $5

2. Free tools that were sitting in oil
3. Craftsman hammers, oil filter pliers, matco hose clamps, snap-on pliers $1 each

4. All $1 each snap-on screwdrivers, matco gasket, so pliers, craftsman pliera, dulth pliers

5. Matco wrench $1, so flare nut wrench $1, craftsman L handle $2

6.matco sockets $2 each, i think these are snap-on spark plug socket extensions but i am mot sure there were $3 each.

Sohow did i do today? I am terrible at knowing if i got a good deal on snap-on or matco tools.

Hot and Humid in Florida yesterday...

picked up this neat stand/box piece , I pposted it over in the Vintage tool box thread but wanted to show it off over here, just a neat little box !
Also grabbed a big Bridgeport screwdriver in good condition, a 440 Channellock, safety wire pliers and a Snap On MV 71 1/4 ratchet.
Kinda funny cuz I found a Snap On TML 70 1/4 ratchet last week.

Oh you so **** on that 150! (that's a good thing) You even got the intermediate pulley which was an option, and makes it far more suitable for drilling steel and larger holes.

OK, I was wrong on the "Soldering tools" I got yesterday and the one I got last week: They are actually non-magnetic screw starter holders!

I finally looked up the company (HJJ, Co, formerly in Los Gatos Ca. Now in Boulder City NV.

r_olson,
I've restored a few of these and may have some extra piece laying about. I'll look around.

Nice, especially that it's a set. As I get older, I find myself reaching for these as much as my glasses!

I won't hog image bandwidth on the other stuff. The big DOE engineer's wrench is a wartime Armstrong 1734 HI-TENSILE with an Ordnance Dept stock number stamped on it. The sleek one with the furrow on the shank is a BLACKHAWK-ARMSTRONG 4723. The DBE wrenches are Plomb WF-85 and -82. The 15* x 60* configuration ignition wrenches are Indestro Super 891 through 895.

The chromed classic Crafty streak continued with a nearly complete set of 15* x 75* electrical wrenches, all -V-, tappets No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4, and probably the coolest piece in the lot - a very interesting GMTK-spec correct ignition screwdriver with screw-holder, pyralin handles, and pocket clip. The handle has some dings, but the logo (geometric C) is legible, as is the patent number (2292657), which was granted in August 1942. Sometimes the tiniest tools have the biggest payoff.

Lug, "G" was the date code for 1945 from SO ("E" was for '43) "normal" date code numbers before and after. Not sure if SO collecting had catalogs for those years of if they do if they are complete. (Wartime production for civilian use was still often for war production mfg...)

Roger on the codes, Outlaw. I only collect "E" and "G" Snap-On and the rare "2" and "3" (found much more on ratchets, other handles and extensions than sockets). They did publish a catalog in 1942 (P) and late 1944 (for 1945)(Q), by the way. After further review, it looks like neither the F-080 (1/4) or the F-100 (5/16) was listed in the Ferret sets in either catalog. And after looking back, it looks like they may have only made those sizes in the wartime years. Hence, they didn't update their literature just for those kinds of things.

I'm pretty sure your vise is an Oxwall Vacu-Vise with the vacuum parts missing. Cute little vises but I have no idea the COO.

I went a little out of my Sunday routine today. Instead of going straight to the flea market, I found a yard sale listed in the opposite direction. WAY in the opposite direction. I planned on going back to the FM afterward to see if there was anything left, but wasn't feeling well and just came home to sleep it off.

The YS was full of TONS OF TOOLS ! Buckets and buckets of tools to sort through. Husky, Husky, unbranded, China, Taiwan, Husky ............. Sadly, almost all were pacific imports. :(
I did a lot of greasy digging and had a great time. :D

Spent $30
- Master #MFAN250 finish nailer (15ga) (Taiwan)
- Herbrand S-28 10" 1/2dr extension
- Herbrand S-27 5" 1/2dr extension
- SK (diamond) #45161 6" 3/8dr extension
- Channellock #426 slip-joint pliers
- Williams #9729 short DBE 3/4"-5/8"
- Proto (LA) #3031 DOE 3/4"-5/8"
- short 1/4dr socket rail
- short 3/8dr socket rail
and a Chinese body dolly to fill out a set I bought years ago (not pictured)

Outlaw: those screwdrivers are very useful. Great find.

Thx, PaulM, Yep holders are often the only way to get something put back together!

PaulK; (& Dave) The Vise is likely made in Japan. While Oxwall may have imported them, they came in under several names and in bench top, vacu-top (like yours) and Clamp on.

I got one as a gift in the mid sixties or so. The weak point (for me) was the main screw nut. I over tightened it and the center sucked right out... Until then it was a nice little hobby vise. I wouldn't mind finding another

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like the hardy was used to form a rod into a triangular shape.

Jakemac:

Thanks for info on the hardy tool, as I wasn't sure of it's use.

Here are this weeks finds:

Proto 1390 soft face, Klein pouch, Snap on 1/4 drive swivel socket, Proto LA deep socket, Blue point hex key set (missing two, but the are just Elkin so easy to replace) Bonney whitworth wrench - $1 each. Also found an Armstrong F-91 for $5
Hit the swap yesterday and only found the following worth buying (lots of good stuff, but either don't need or too expensive.):

3 Cornwell swivels, Cornwell and Snap On deeps for a buck each, and Snap on ignition for .25.

Pic 1-4--Columbian Blacksmith Post Vise--Jaw size 4-1/4"--The PB Blaster loosened up the rusted sections and was able to disassemble, wire wheel and get it back into shape to go back to work.

Jaw Openings over 5" inches, total length 41.5, weight of 40 pounds.

Came from same garage sale that had the Peter Wright 145 pound anvil.

Definitely used, but not abused, with lots of old hardened grease that needed to be removed and rust from just sitting around unused for years.

went to the fleamarket on saturday and picked up a few things.

1/2" drive wright ratchet from 1976 with the tootsie roll handle, going to use it so I can get a feel of how it feels while working on cars.

S shape wrench made by Billings, (going in the collection for the shadow box)

a crinkle brown finish piano lamp with a heavy weight base and a short tube, it appears to be a good lamp for hanging over a shelf or low light on the desk.

I don't have pictures of the items.

Looks like some nice finds had by all this week.

The flea market was kinda slim, few of the regular tool vendors showed up, and those that did had the same stuff I didn't buy last week or the week before. Did visit one seller that I usually avoid due to his prices and picked these out for $8.
0737bfae2f17ab27231bf7b6b102028a.jpg
Thorsen 3/8 extension, Bonney RF54 wrench, Vulcan deep socket.

I also bought a 100' lufkin tape to replace the one that I dropped and broke the crank off it. Forgot to take a pic of the tape though.

$8 for all the wrenches. I think 4 are SK including the 1 1/4. Got surprised there are 2 Proto. Everything in the box of screwdrivers was 10cents each. Found a couple of Snapon ones and a Mac 15mm wrench in there. Work Light was $3 R12/22 gauge set $5. The plastic organizer was $5 it is full of misc and 8 Mac sockets plus other brands. Other misc.

Thanks for info.

You had me scrambling to find a diagram for what toe caulks on horseshoes looked like.

Never too old to learn something new!!!

Got this one a few weeks ago. It was in the back almost out of sight from the main stuff being sold. I asked if it was for sale and the woman stated she would love to get it out of the way but she had to ask her husband. After we found him he stated it didn't run and had been replaced. He asked $500. We settled at $400. It needed a battery and an ignition coil. I gave it a valve job as long as I had the engine out since it already had 1000 hours. Total investment with purchase cost around $500 including maintenance parts. Way better than my John Deere riding mower.
Sorry about the photos. Light was just about gone. It's a Kubota ZG20.
