Well, here it is.
The 5th Annual Garage/Yard/Boot/Tag/Flea Market/eBay/Craigslist/Curb Find/Scrap Find/Dumpster Find/Thrift Store/Antique Store/Free/Etc Thread.

In short, this thread is for any finds you may come across that were not bought new from a Brick & Mortar or Online source.

I'll start as Nine did, by linking the previous threads :

2012 - jeffmoss26 - it's garage sale season!!
2013 - maddawg308 - it's 2013 garage sale season!...
2014 - Outlawmws - 2014 Garage sale thread!
2015 - nine4gmc - 2015 Garage SaleThread

Originally, I intended to list some of the notable acquisitions from 2015 to inspire your hunts. However, once I started to scan last year's thread, I realized what a Herculean task it was. Within just a few pages, I was overwhelmed. With 350+ pages, and over 7000+ posts of great tooly goodness, I just couldn't pick and choose. From the bulk finds large and small, to the single finds, you ALL did well last year. I hope to see more of the same in the coming year.

Yes, we all love a bargain, but what we're really doing is preserving these tools and the knowledge of them for successive generations. Keep up the good work.

Remember - Hoarding is the original Recycling plan.
We all want to keep our planet green, don't we ?

I would also like to remind the membership of Rule #1.
You cannot **** yourself, nor can you ask for, or imply suckage.
To do so, prohibits the awarding of such honors.

"You ****" is an honor that can only be spontaneously bestowed by other members without solicitation.

Rule #2 is …………… See Rule #1

One more reminder :
:needpics:
So grab your cameras.

In conclusion, I'll leave you with a quote from President Snow:

"Welcome! Tributes, we welcome you.
We salute your courage and your sacrifice, and we wish you Happy [Tool] Games!
And may the odds be ever in your favor."

EDIT :
At the suggestion of another member, I'm adding my post from 3/10/16 (post 1465) to the front post so it doesn't get lost in the pages.

...... Trying to express a thought that's been wandering in my head for a while now ..........

I've seen a few posts in this thread, as well as the previous years threads, where a member felt they needed to wait until they had a find that was "worthy" in order to post. Every time I read this sentiment, I feel a bit sad.

From the very beginning of the Garage Sale threads (started before I joined the site), I never felt that a watermark was in effect, or even implied. This was (and is) just a place for the members to show off the things they've picked up during their weekly wanderings. Sometimes we crow, sometimes we commiserate, but all the time - we share.

ALL of your finds are worthy, no matter how large, small, expensive, or cheap. We just like to see what's out there to be saved from oblivion.

I like seeing what others are able to dig up, and I especially love reading the stories that go with the adventure when the details are included. Sharing the story is one of the reasons why my own posts tend to be long.

For myself, not only do I post in order to brag about a really good find that I'm excited about, but I also post mundane finds and share my failures because I feel it's important to show that not every venture to a sale is going to be sunshine and roses. You can't appreciate a rainbow unless you first get rain.
[end rambling]

Great opening post Jake!

Now, hopefully, something worth looking at will surface on Saturday... This has been the longest dry spell I've seen in a long time...

Jake,

Excellent opening post. I promise to post more than last year but I'll mostly lurk and enjoy and be envious of others finds......my tool finding opportunities are somewhat limited by the challenges that life presents.

Cheers!

Wow, you guys are a bunch of slackers. No finds yet? Friday sailing should be well underway by now.

My cure for JDD (Junk Deficit Disorder) won't come until Sunday's flea market.

Nice. This has been one of the most enjoyably threads for me. Too cool to see what some people can acquire and the differences regionally or even rural vs populated areas.

Now that I'm not working :D I should have some more time to wander.

Good intro to the thread Jake!

Can't wait to recuperate from holiday spending so I can start hitting some sales again. I think 2016 is the year I actually have my own garage sale as well.

Lets get down to posting some tools from 2016! Just got back from a antique/flea shop with this load of tools. The long ratchet is a Matco CR15T. All told spent $62.

Hope everyone has a great 2016 and find many good tools but save some for the rest of us. Thank you Jake for your efforts to this thread this year.

I just got back from the warehouse sale I hit yesterday, not much to look at but I will snap a pic in a bit. Yesterday I got a great deal, today they were dollering me to death it seemed. Mostly upholstery supplies and simple hardware but it added up fast, I spent more than I did yesterday and got less...

Here is my lot from today, spent $62 total but I'm hoping to make that back by selling a few of the select items. Mostly upholstery specific tools and supplies. There is a pair of Diamond pliers and a Proto extension along with a few other non upholstery items but most is upholstery.

Okay, I admit it. I got caught up in opening night fever and bought something off Craigslist I don't really need. I mean, I have two belt/disc sanders already. Hell, one is a vintage Craftsman.

But this one is a bigger (6" x 48" belt & 9" disc) and I got it for $175. Not a bargain, likely an import, but at 1/3 retail, I bit. Supposedly, this is made by the same folks that build Grizzley's tools.

I may flip it. Or else, I've got to find a home for it in the shop.

The guy had other tools for sale, but not at bargain prices. This is all I came home with.

Not much going on today but hit up a couple of places.

Pawn shop score, Proto Flying Lady tool box with tray $8. A bit rougher than I like but my first Flying Lady box.

Garage sale I stopped at once before.
2 cast iron plates for who knows what. 25" x 15" x 2" Google says over 200 pounds each. Will turn them into bases for vise or grinder stands.
2 matching Coca Cola crates and a rusty art deco grinder/buffer stand.
$26 total.

PS some research revealed the buffer head is a Craftsman Heavy Duty Polishing Head from around 1950.

Bluebolt - you inhale profusely for that Proto tool box. I might have paid that for just the logo plate.
