Hello all,

I wanted to make a timeline thread to track the progress of our home being built and the attached garages. I did some light work to our prior garage in Maryland and this forum was a huge help in choosing the floor coating.

The new house is expected to be completed in early Sept and we've been visiting the site every week to document the progress. This is our first single family home and we're both looking forward to a fresh start in the Queen City. My goal is to address the lighting, floors, and storage.

Prior townhouse in Maryland. The garage was a relatively decent size for a townhouse at 24' wide by 26'. This pic was taken the night I finished the epoxy floor. The two days prior were spent painting the walls with a buddy.

I went with epoxy coat's package which included the UV and anti-slip additives. After three years, it did hold up fairly well but it did yellow slightly and a few places did peel up.

Beyond the flooring, I had a contractor install three sets of tube lighting and another outlet. For the storage, I went with all Gladiator products. I need to look for other pics, but this one sort of shows the main wall.

The flooring and lighting were well worth the effort and allowed me to detail inside year round.

After selling the townhouse this past February we found ourselves in the job market for our first single family home. I was set on a three car garage while my wife focused on everything else. After touring many builders we finally settled on one and were under contract a few days later.

Here is the foundation of the garages.

We were both huge fans of the courtyard driveway. I need to get proper measurements. :D

Second Garage

Thanks for reading and I am very open to feedback. We don't have any kids so the focus will be on my toys and staying organized. :3gears:

The house is making progress and we had our pre-dry wall meeting this past Friday. They were able to set a tentative closing date for end of August and thanks to the Brexit vote Treasury yields rallied pretty strong which will only help with the rate lock next week.

Today, I purchased the rest of the Gladiator storage and I also took some measurements to send to the forum sponsors on flooring ideas.

Main garage: 34' x 21.5' (731 sq ft)
Second garage: 22' x 12' (264 sq ft)

Gladiator Inventory:
a. 3x 30" Wall Gearbox (GAWG28FDYG)
b. 1x Extra Large Gearbox (GAJG48KDYG)
c. 1x Foldaway Workstation (GAFS42KDSG)
d. 1x Rollaway Tool Chest (GATR52RWBG)

I still need to source the 6' foot table and 8' wall tracks but that will have to wait till the move.

Nice build must be exciting for you. If you like the stryker, check out it's big brother the Raider.

I really need to ride one as I've only been on sport bikes. The dimensions seem good on the Stryker and not too beefy. I sat on my buddies m109r and it was crazy wide. I'll check out the raider for sure though [emoji106]

At this point the r6 is listed on craigslist with minimal nibbles after a couple days.

Thank you! It's our first time building and learned a lot about the process. Basically you have to scrutinize every decision as they hate change orders. We're both ready to get out of this tiny apartment

I just ordered the floor from Armorpoxy. and took advantage of the discount before the long weekend.

I went w/ the designer gray and upgraded top coat. It'll have to sit in storage for a few months.

Some goodies arrived today. Ordered Thurs afternoon and arrived Saturday morning. Thanks Armorpoxy [emoji3]

Couldn't resist the Gladiator holder for a couple bucks too.

The house is coming along nicely and is scheduled to be done 8/31. The interior had dry wall and they're making progress on the garages.

I plan on replacing the 3 ceiling light fixtures with 4' LED tubes and need to handle the water situation. We just did the sink rough in but need to get a plumber to add a nozzle for the hose. We're hoping the stone gets done next week to complete the bulk of the exterior work.

Congrats on the new house. Looking forward to seeing the creation of your new spaces.

Thanks [emoji106] Nice username haha

I'm going on my second GLI. My wife laughed when I wanted the same car again.

Building a new house is great. So many options to choose from.
Can't wait to see more of the garage.

Good luck!

Thank you [emoji106] Choosing the options was the difficult part as you have to make so many decisions over a short period. Luckily, the wife was local and did all the choosing.

Quick hump day update. They started mudding and added the majority of the stone work. We're counting the days now till ditch the apartment.

Looks schweet, with 4,300 sq feet you'll have plenty of space for filling the joint with munchkins. Color me green with envy. (Not, however, Kawasaki green.)

Hate to say this, but you don't have nearly enough outlets in either garage. Not a major annoyance if they don't finish the drywall in the garages, but a PITA if they do.

What's your plan for a motorcycle lift? In floor or not, or none?

I hear you. The 2 car has 4 outlets and 2 in the single one. The wife was thinking and ordered an extra outlet for the beer fridge though. We'll see how it goes but the garages will be finished and painted by the builder.

In terms of the bikes, I sold the blue r6 before we moved and currently trying to sell the gray one. Hoping to make room for a cruiser and a mountain bike. No real plans for a lift though. Buy my bike!

The rest of the stone was installed last week. The door, pillars, and trim will be painted a darker color to match the siding. That's about it for the exterior.

We're trying to get confirmation on the boundary lines this week. The site is only 0.3 acres, but I'm questioning the back line as it appears to cover common ground. The bottom picture shows the already sodded slopped part that I believe is our land based on the site map. The site is poorly staked and hoping to get that remedied before closing as we're looking at a aluminum fence. Am I reading this site plan correctly? I don't know what the dotted lines mean and simply going off the thick black perimeter marks.
