Ideal Roll Up Door at Menards

Does anyone have one of these doors?
I'm looking at the 6'x7' 200M model, but can't find any reviews. I'm mainly interested in how well they seal to keep rain/leaves/snow out, and if they are of decent quality.

They seem pretty good, especially for the price, and are in stock in the store closest to me. I have looked at others online that are nicer, but $300 for shipping just kills them.

I used Ideal doors on my barn, not the model your interested tho. I think Ideal is a very good quality door, the best I've used so far on any of my barns and garages. I bought them at Menards and I'm completely satisfied with the doors and would use them again.

I ordered a custom sized Ideal door from Menards for the 1941 garage my wife's grandfather built.

I'm happy with the quality, and my boat stays dry, with no critter invasions.

The directions do **** though.

Installation is pretty intuitive. I think it would have been easier to assemble without the directions.

How close is the nearest store to you ? You should be able to order it, pick it up at that store and save on the shipping.

The nearest Menards with the door I want in stock is a 4 hour drive. The other door I was looking at is a 16 hour drive or $300 to ship from another manufacturer.

Thank you for the replies guys, much appreciated! Sounds like its a great door, especially for the price, and should seal well enough. Have any of you used any extra seals? or just how the door comes? I see ideal lists side brush seals and a top seal, but no mention on Menards website.

Thanks for the heads up, I have added it now.

The drive is each way, but menards won't ship. Roll up doors direct is the other company, their nearest pick up location is 16 hours driving each way, or $300 to ship, and the door does cost more for similar sizes and features.

This one is not insulated, but neither is the shed either, just going to be used for off season storage of toys and lawn furniture.

Ok, you've checked with two different companies, I thought it was only Menard's.

Good on the updating your profile. There are a few other members up in that area and they might be able to give you some good advice as to where to look in that area.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the $300 for shipping, I started a big internet search trying to find something different, but it seems there is only a few manufacturers that make the smaller roll up doors (less than 8x8ft). I've got a couple of new leads locally to follow up on, but not much else in Canada.

I have bought many of the roll up doors from Menards under the Ideal name. Have also bought that same door using the name of Gadco and Janus. Menards has the best price. They buy more than anybody. The door itself is a quality setup. Does not seal up real tight but does a good job and holds its tolerances.

The bottom seal that comes with the door seals it up nicely, for a shed

Have you tried any local garage door suppliers? We sell sheds and metal buildings and we can sell doors also. There may be other options if you get creative.

I'm just following up with y'all 9 years later to see how your Ideal roll up doors from Menard's are holding up? I'm considering buying a 6x7 Ideal roll up door from Menards for the shed I'm building. Do they doors still slide up and down easily and smoothly after a few years? Is the steel holding up and still looking good? And is there an option to lock these doors with a built-in lock and not an external padlock?

Since this thread originally started, I put one up for the 10x12 shed I built my parents. As far as I know in the 4+ years or so, no issues and paint still looks good.

Word of caution though....the door edges are bare sharp steel from the shearing process. If you don't pay attention, you will need stitches.... Step-dad got 4.

It was during the install. Before I could even say something about the edges, he grabbed, pulled and cut his hand. Once it's installed, I believe it's all covered by the tracks/rails.

I never lock mine, although it does face the street and the door can’t be seen from the house. It’s actually ant a lake house we own in town that an elderly relative is living in.

Pretty low crime rate here.

It has provisions for a padlock, if you feel the need.

Ideal is just the Menards house brand. Their doors are actually made by Coplay, who private labels others, too.

I suspect Janus is a division.

Edit. I can’t find any evidence that Janus is related to Coplay, after all very brief search. Ideal is, however a Coplay brand, sold exclusively at enards.

I'm using the side-mount Chamberlain on my home overhead garaage door and it works fine.

The doors shown in this thread look like the ones commonly found on storage facilities. I have purchased well over ten of this type of door from the scrap yard. A guy had brought them in after he replaced an entire facility with new doors. Some of the used doors were a bit rusty but most were in good shape. I guess that storage facility was doin well.

Shortest at 6' wide. Going down to 4' wide, they do list a shorter door.

I started buying them direct from Janus doors ten at a time. Found them under Ideal name at Menards, called Janus to complain on pricing. Janus told me Menards buys more than me and buy from them.
