I was reading the rules for posting classified ads, and saw this.
Note: The Garage Journal is not a classifieds site. We have a classifieds section just so that users can help each other out with deals and finds. If you are here looking for profit, please don't post.

What does this mean? Are we supposed to sell stuff and NOT make a profit? I don't understand....:dunno:

Can someone clarify?

I'd say it's to discourage a commercial type atmosphere. I've bought and sold a lot on the classifieds and had very good luck with other members.

Your answer is below.

Topic also moved to the correct part of the forum.

I believe what Ryan means is the classified section is for the active members, not for those that join trying to make a buck off the membership here or by using his bandwidth. If that is their intent, for the peddling of their wares, there are plenty of other places on the 'net for them to use.

I'm in a similar boat... been visiting GJ for a long while before I ever joined and only have a handful of posts under my belt. I'd love to post a Wanted ad for a vintage middle tool chest to fill-out my stack because I can't find any on my local classifieds. But I'm way short on the 100-post limit and honestly I really don't feel like going out of my way to post useless filler for days on end just to up my post count.

That said, I do fully understand the logic behind the post-limit and have no real issue. Thanks for keeping the forums & website going!

Useless filler as you call it will only see you banned. Then you have gained nothing.:dunno:

If you see the logic then you may find participating in some of the interesting posts with logic that may help some one else very satisfying. Your post count will be past 100 before you know it.

What people fail to realize if some like you, that has been here since 2013, (not you in paticular but generally speaking a member for that long) made 1 post a week, you would be way past the minimum required.
