I found this clamp in an old farm workshop at an estate sale in New Hampshire. I think it might for working with tires. The patent dates are from 1907 and 1910, but my patent search "kung fu" isn't very good. Can anyone help with some info or ideas?

I like your guess. If you were giving a history lesson on this clamp, I'd have no problem believing it was for breaking tires beads from rims.

It's an on wheel vulcanizing clamp to hold the heating element to the tire.

I buy that it is part of their vulcanizer product line (since they made those and headlamps back in the day) but I can't find a single image of this one anywhere else online. And it doesn't look like any of the other vulcanizer tools out there.

The two patent dates lead to two patents, more about the heating elements of vulcanizing than clamping. Prrhaps the pending patent may cover the special clamp pad (there's nothing else innovative about the C-clamp). The third link is cool and scrolling to he bottom, lists more patents with links. I didn't spot the clamp though. Maybe it's an accessory for special situation. Maybe for farm equipment?

 Look closely at the image I posted.

Oh, now I see it. Apologies, zk--I thought at first look the picture you posted showed a clamp with a handle on the side. After zooming in closer, I now see my clamp, along with a second device (with its own handle) for holding the patch on the tire.

Thanks for finding and posting the picture!
