My dad recently acquired this box (paid $125 for it) and repainted it. He wants to get the side guards for it but I can't quite make out the model # from the stamping on the rear. The sticker is gone and it looks like the last 3 #'s I can see are 655 or something to that effect and I think it was made in 1987 as I see 87 stamped after Snap On Tools on the back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :beer::thumbup:

Yea, should be a kr655, 36" wide 20" deep? All ball bearings. Very heavy box. Good luck with the side guards/trim. Ended up making one for mine. May want to strip the paint off the lock, looks a bit sloppy for an otherwise nice repaint.

Those are nice boxes, I have the older KR557s. On the trim, it's probably unubtanium at this point. The original trim on mine was pretty chowdered up so I made some out of aluminum channel from Homeless Despot. From 20 feet it looks good enough and will protect the corners. I used 2 sided automotive adhesive tape. So far so good.

The side guards are just bent sheet aluminum, polished. If they are NLA from Snap-On, you can make them/have them made yourself. The are retained with rivets.

They are actually an aluminum extrusion, you can make ones that look good at ~5' by splitting a piece of square tubing.
