Snap-On FSLF/TSLF ratchets...

Does anyone here on GJ still using these as much as I do? I find myself reaching for my FSLF more and more for home projects, and it's been really good to me. I had a TSLF as well, but I misplaced it a few years ago and I haven't been able to pick another one up since they seem to be made of pure gold and unobtanium (hard to find, and outrageously priced when you do). I'm just wondering if anyone else liked using them since they were pretty short-lived.

I bought one a couple years ago and it was missing the detent ball to hold the sockets on. I just got around to getting it rebuilt this year but don't recall ever using it. I need to start trying to once in a while.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one. They're one of those tools that seems like a strange idea until you actually start using them, and then you don't want to use anything else.

KM, your ratchet drawer is awesome!

Dangit, why do I always find out about this stuff AFTER it's discontinued?

the demand is too great... they need to bring these back so i can see what the fuss is all about

Yeah, I'd probably buy the F80 version at least, maybe the T72 as well.

I don't think they make a 8 or 72 version. Some guys are putting the 89/72 heads on the ratchet's though

I think BK was referring to IF they brought them back with the 80/72 option, he'd buy 1 or 2. You're correct that they never offered the option.
I did the swap you mentioned with mine, as pictured above.

I'd really like to see S/O bring these back as there is demand out there, but I've heard from a lot of techs that they forgo the use of hand tools in favor of powered ones because of flat-rate pay, which might partially explain the low sales. That said, these are still handy to have in situations where you wouldn't, or can't use air tools. Although, I used these plenty even when I was wrenching for a living.

Correct. I'd be all over Dual 80 versions, assuming no comfort grips.

I have these and don't like the koken as it is clunky like an old proto.

Here are a few of mine and I did change the heads to dual 80's.

Here is my koken. The handle does not spin like the snappy ones.

Does the Koken have a handle that spins like the Snap-on? It looks like a solid handle in the Frankstools picture.

I still don't know what to think of Frank's. I made a $100 order 4 weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing and the order status link he sent me still shows no activity. I shot him a quick email two weeks ago to see if my order had shipped, because I have heard some bad stories on GJ. He responded quickly and said he didn't know my order status at the moment and he would get back to me later that day with an update, but he never did. All I know is I've made quite a few purchases that shipped directly from Japan over the last two years, and Franks has been the slowest to arrive by far. Every other order has been at my door within 3 weeks max, and it usually only takes two weeks since I'm on the west coast. I will give it another week before I email him again, but I won't be buying from him again. Customers shouldn't have to just sit and wonder what is going on for weeks, even a simple shipment confirmation email would have been great.

Not much.... I can check when I get home. We need more tool ****. I need to sell the stuff I don't use to get more snappy ratchets.

I think they have 45 tooth, don't remember if that was in a pear head or round head, though.

Oh great, thanks 48548 for answering my question about the Koken handle a minute before I asked it. Now I look like I don't know how to read and I must be blind too because I'm also incapable of interpreting huge, beautiful, clear, detailed pictures.:p:lol_hitti

Does the Snap-on handle spin on mini bearings internally? It seems like it would be a bit squeaky during use if it didn't. The handle is so thin though. Is there a way to take the handle off, it looks visually like the two pieces must be permanently interlocked somehow?

Nice tool drawer ****! In the above photo, does the top TSLF (2nd ratchet down) have a "3/8 in a 1/4 body" head, or am I seeing things?

^Cool deal! I was hoping I wasn't seeing things.

BTW, if anyone reading this thread has a spare TSLF they wouldn't mind letting go for a REASONABLE (not eBay pie-in-the-sky) price, PM me. I'm really starting to miss mine.

The word is out unfortunately. Pie in the sky is the new norm.
