It weighs in around 10-12#. I was kind of thinking Beach, from the design of those slides (and release finger), but was hesitant to put that out there up front.

My plans are to remove any dings, to refinish it, and use it to store all my spare sockets, etc. It might not be the ideal every day box for working out of.

I too, watched this one, for a few days. Working in my favour were the seller's crappy 'phone pictures and I am positive most viewers did not see that unique pull out tray arrangement. Fortunately, when I was ready to go and get it, it was still there....it was a couple of hours away.

Please post details of yours (that is, after you close your deal). I have searched all my pictures,, as I vaguely remember seeing a similar tray set up before, but could not find one.

Found it!! and it is different again, with a single row of covered pans,

It is a bit far, and these are far from being in pristine condition.....but good deal for a local.

For the record, here are the pictures:

I actually looked to see how far a drive it was. Unfortunately 2600 miles is a bit outside the range no matter what the deal is.

They show up here on the West coast from time to time - a genuine Beach is a little rare, I usually see the Craftsman or Mastercraft rebrands.

This one's a little rough, but with the exchange rate would be closer to $80 US:

Also, Craftsman had a top with the same drawer configuration in the late 50's early 60's I have that one. I actually like it better than the later version with the deep narrow drawer in the middle, and wish it had 3 small instead of the deep narrow drawers for a 12 drawer.

Hmm Remline... I don't disagree, but my Craftsman version top was made by Metal Advertising Display Co. (its stamped inside one of the drawer fronts, under the Craftsman tag)

I wonder if Metal Advertising Display Co. became Remline?

And apparently So! - Trademark first, then a company name change.

It seems that:
  • Metal Advertising Display Co. first registered Remline as a TM - 1954-07-01.
  • That trademark transfered to T AND D METAL PRODUCTS, L.L.C. (16th New Owner Entered After Registration),
  • then to REMLINE INDUSTRIES, INC. 17th New Owner Entered After Registration,
  • and was last re-registered in 2008? 2010-01-08?

Thanks guys! I was glad to have found it. And the cost didn't break the bank. The top hasp is missing the loop and it looks like someone added a hasp and staple for a padlock, and that's broken too.

I can't find the date stamp. There is nothing behind the logos on the drawers. Anyone know where else the date might be?

My mind went to RemLine right away as well. I have a similar but newer top box that's marked Remline.

Mintgrun, I like that Remline stack. Same color scheme, but your garage door is red instead of gray.

Here's a pic of my RemLine top box.

The power craft box is a remline. Now here's the $64,000 question, when did the name remline come out and we're they even joined with metal advertising company. The more I look, remlines look pretty much the same as 1950's craftsman.

4 posts above" ^^^^

Remline was a Trademark of Metal Advertising Company starting 1954; and later the trademark went to "REMLINE INDUSTRIES, INC." So it looks like Metal Advertising Company changed it's name to REMLINE INDUSTRIES, INC

How the hell did I skim over that? I'll have my Nigerian prince buddy wire you the $64,000.

Lol.........

I guess at some point AMDC stopped punching the date behind the badge inside the drawer. I have no idea if they moved it or eliminated it all together. I'd love to know when that took place. The latest date I have cataloged is a '63 but I do have another roll cab that I haven't uploaded yet.

One of the catalogs I have piled up and yet to get scanned is a Remline cat. I'll get to it eventually.

The 55 and 57 Craftsman boxes I have have Metal Advertising Display Company stamped under the Craftsman logo. The 66 Remline box I have says Metal Advertising Display Company on the Remline Logo.

Indeed there is!
I was surprised to learn that my two boxes were made two years apart, in 59 and 61.
I like the way they stamped the metal to receive the logo.

I could not find a date on the PowrKraft boxes.

I have an older Craftsman box, but could not find a date on it either. My guess is that it is newer than the ones being discussed here.

Have to check. Date in top compartment left side near front. Not any newer then 1977.

Ha, it was under the liner I had installed on the bottom of the top compartment, left side.
Just like you said. Thank you.
05/73

My Snap On roller has it stamped right on the front, lower left corner.
I am guessing that is what the 71 indicates.

Does anyone know where (if) they typically stamp the date in these old Kennedy boxes?

I'm refurbing a Kennedy 520 tool chest , is there a clever way to remove and reuse the plastic draw pulls ? , they look like the hollow round locating pin was staked square ,
Will they squeeze back round to remove for painting?
If I could get new ones ,I'd be happy but I'm in England so parts are hard to source

UPDATE , had a bit of fiddle with it , left the door in direct sunshine (in my car )'to warm it up,
Then pushed the two small pins whilst gently turning the knob and out it popped

I just picked up that very same Craftsman box.

First post, have an old new Britain toolbox that was given to me by my first boss. It was painted blue (poorly). I am in the process of restoring it for my daughter. I know the are a few that will cringe at the thought of me painting it, but it had already been repainted once or twice, so the originality is out the window. I let my daughter choose the color, and she chose pink. While sanding it down I discovered the manufacture date was 7/68 on both the top and bottom. I have the top finished.
