Picked up the rotors for my son's D-Max during lunch yesterday after being turned so last night I helped him put his truck back together and took her for a road test and bedded the brakes in. I then cleaned up the shop and swept the floor before spot watering a few dry spots in my lawn and relaxing. It was fun working with my son in the shop. As he gets older and has a life of his own now I don't get to do that as much as I used to and to be honest I kind of miss it.

Tonight I need to replace the auxiliary battery in my Jeep and give her a quick bath.

Well, after dying on the highway with no warning, waiting for my wife to show up, and then having her tow me at low speed on the shoulder of the highway home, got my motorcycle back in the garage and made up some new swear words....

Riding fine, then...putt, putt, nuthin'. No electricity to anything. Charged battery overnight, nothing. Gotta pull all the wiring to find the problem. Then I'm selling the damn thing and buying a ridiculously expensive new harley.....(that's my angry voice talking...)

I'm sure you've checked all fuses and grounds already? What kind of bike?

I once had a scooter I loved to ride and one day it died and I could never get it to work.
Sold it to a guy who tightened the carb manifold and ran it for many years...I miss that little scooter! I guess what I am saying is, check the small stuff, could be a loose screw!

I am in the garage doing preventative corrosion maintenance on my 2008 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4. Painted the whole frame including all the suspension parts...trying to eliminate all the rust using Rustoleum Rust Reformer and their gloss black oil based paint.

It's a long process and I am finding ripped inner fender aprons, missing fasteners, and rusty brake line fittings.
I sure wish Ford would have painted their frames.
I may not be able to get to the top of the frame and it will rust to dirt in 10 years anyway, but it gives me a little hope this 30,000 mile ride will outlast me.

Started building cabinets for the barn. 4'x8'x2' and will have doors later. I just have to get a few more built so I can get stuff put away and find it later.

Installed new battery in my Jeep and machined a couple of spacers for the hold down. Took me a little longer than anticipated but I added the "kool" factor to my hold down.

These turned out pretty cool -- and they're such a perfect match for my own car that they're gonna be hard to ship home. :D

The CocaCola bench back was delivered in Indiana yesterday. My customer humored me with a video of his wife opening it up, the second "Christmas Morning Look" I've gotten to see in nine years, and the second this month! It's almost like being there for the Big Reveal -- too cool!! :D The video is on FaceBook if any of you care to see it; she has a HUGE Coke collection.

Gave the Mustang a good washing. Too hot for a lot of jobs outside but working with cold water flowing made this tolerable.

Installed new Bilstein B4 struts in my 99 BMW 318i beater. New Lemforder upper shock mounts, too. Took a few hours, but fairly straightforward. Hope the clunking sound goes away now.

If it's not a fuse, it could be a bad regulator/rectifier. Depending on how it fails it can do a good job of frying your battery.

I cleaned up/degreased a piece I picked up from a local salvage yard.

The piece is a Holroyd 90deg reduction gearbox that is for another project on my list. I am going to fit it to my engine stand, with a little fitting/machining.... to make it a little easier to rotate the heavy things that get on my stand.

Looking forward to seeing how that progresses..

Swapped some keys around on a few key rings. I also verified what the keys were for and tossed a few of them along with a lock that appears to have no key.

For the first time in almost a year, I sat in my garage and watched it rain...

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160803/6f5a1cf635d3b63476a3e3cc693f57b6.jpg[IMG]
Y'know, I actually miss the rain sometimes when I'm in the garage (key word being sometimes...)

When I lived up north at my Grandpa's (garage in my avatar) I spent huge amounts of time in the garage with him obviously. And the garage being made of tin without any insulation the rain had almost a therapeutic sound to it hitting the roof. I can still picture my Grandfather sitting on the tractor's drawbar in the summer looking at car's going by in the street.

Fixed the wifes interior dome light issue today. Whenever she uses the right turn signal the dome light would flash off and on with it. Ended up replacing the multi function switch on the car and it took car of the problem.

Did some housekeeping in the garage tonight, swept and vacuumed. Then I brought my car in and gave it a quick cleaning on the inside. Was going to vacuum the car also but it was a little late and didn't want to annoy the neighbours with the Shop Vac, will get to that tomorrow or on the weekend.

Worked on the RV slide, then replaced the standard 60W light bulbs with 13W LED on that side of the building.

Today I learned that carbon steel shafting is hard to cut! I need a 2" piece of 1/4" shaft to serve as the axle on the yarn swift and I've been at it for about 10 minutes with my M12 bandsaw with a fresh blade. I've got a little slit cut in it so far. I may have to wait until I can work during the day and do it with a angle grinder and an abrasive cut off disc. At this rate I'll have cut through it by sunrise tomorrow!

I was expecting to just zip right through it like I've done with normal steel rod I've bought at the home centers before. This shaft is: "Class L, Carbon Steel, 60 Rockwell C"

After work I drilled and tapped for the cooler chest deck on the mini trailer after the 1/4-28 flathead screws came in. (Thin material; needed the fine thread..) I still need to counter sink and clearance hole the ply, then prime and paint it... then on to the prop tank mount.

Washed our coach last night, then took the tire covers off and took her to fuel up. Diesel had dropped a few cents so I figured I may as well top her off and save a few bucks.
2hi70jd.jpg

Then washed/vacuumed the Jeep and shined her up.

I then stretched out my cable for my winch and rewound it on the spool. Lastly after all of that was done as it was starting to get dark I decided to trim and mow the lawn.

Took it easy this morning on my other money pit before it got too hot. I broke a shock shaft on my 5th scale baja so I swapped it out.

The size of this thing still impresses me every time I work on, shock is damn near the size of a can of brake clean

Thanks

Here is a comparison the smaller bar is the stock version. For now just the rear maybe in the future will do the front

Had to put in new end links for the new bar

What is a "5th scale baja"? Sounds like fun, whatever it is.
